- @Taxidriver Just so you know what my project is: I reverse-engineered the original DOS game by studying its executable, data files and behaviour, then reconstructed its logic for the browser. The aim is to preserve the original driving physics, tracks and game flow while adding optional updated graphics and website features. It runs locally on your computer, not streamed from a server, and needs no separate installation or emulator.

- @Taxidriver Yes, my display runs at 120 Hz, so that could explain the 120 vs. 60 FPS, but not Firefox getting 30 while Chromium gets 60 on the same laptop. 🙂

- Happy birthday, @RCBandit!

- @svenanders Maybe it's because your screen refresh rate is set to 120 Hz (and Mr. HerrNove's is set to 60 Hz), but while you're at it, you could also try to see what reported framerate you get from my game(s), where I limited the framerate to 500 FPS (SDL_Delay(2) at every frame). I obviously don't have an executable file for your M**B*** *** **, but it's very easy to compile (no idea how you would do it on that thing) and you can also see what happens when you remove SDL_Delay(2). I already gave the address of my site.

- @HerrNove What does it say under "Target Frame Rate" under about:support for you?
- svenanders
- @HerrNove Tested the newest version of Firefox on my Mac, and also got 120fps, just for information...

- @svenanders I have Firefox 140.4.0 ESR with Compositing: WebRender

- @Taxidriver Well, I get a steady 120fps in the newest Google Chrome on my MacBook Pro M4.
- svenanders
- @HerrNove Thanks, that helps! 🙂 Which Firefox version are you using? Could you also open about:support and tell me what “Compositing” says under Graphics? No need to change any settings.

- Of course games and videos run faster with Chrome, because most of the money for Firefox comes from G**gle (duh), but as I wrote on my site: https://matei.one/invidious.php?v=kJAGzGDMahc "Browsers are not optimised for playing videos, so you will get much better performance and energy efficiency if you use a specialised program."
