About the gears in Stunts it depends mostly in the car. There is less differences between manual and automatic in most of the custom cars I built. This idea came in the later cars like Williams which is more equaled in this detail than it's cousin McLaren Honda. The other aspect is the track, of course.

@Marco, yes, I can test your track. A mechanical gearbox is usually always faster than an automatic one and you can do more complex tricks with it, but it's almost useless on completely flat tracks with only apexes and no relief.
