  @Ryoma the replay seems to work alright, but note that customised cars are not allowed in ZakStunts, for two reasons: some dashboard changes can cause behavioural changes, and one could cheat by adding digital speedometers to cars without one, to improve shifting.

In fact, my intention when I built that was to help with the pending task of updating the system for that competition. By the way, are the replays of the P.C. saved somewhere? I can see that Ryoma is producing cars continuosly...this is italian style i have some question for you, since i left the pro competition here , I'm using 4d sports driving to avoid that "turn left" grip bug that sounds terrible to me. Unfortunately there's the 10 minutes problem. Have you found a way to solve the turn left bug on stunts or the 10 minutes failure on 4d sports driving ? Second thing , I decided to chose my 32 favourite cars and i have created my nice version because there are too many. I could not continue to follow Ryoma because of too many updates and it was not confortable any time look for any cars update. You must be smarter and to create single folder with maybe 10 cars each one ready to be loaded on a Stunts version. Then update those files

  Have just registered and would like to say hello to everyone. I played stunts a lot in my childhood (must have been around 93). Later only every now and then. Since 2008 or so (found "stunts_ZakStunts_Archive07.zip" on my drive a few day ago ) I know ZakStunts and rarely took a look at the current competition and the amazing replays. In the last few days I played the current round and will now submit it (please don´t expect something special). First with the Audi but tried the LM002 today and the corrected time was a little better. Many greetings to all!

  @Frieshansen, you have set a pretty decent time, so I wouldn't worry much about the top of the scoreboard. They have been at it for many years. quite possibly with skill build on the wear of their keyboards and the calluses on their fingers.

For that I used mostly PCem - really great Emulator, but unfortunaly doesn´t support the NEC V30 (and the author stopped developing it this year).

  ? I have closed the Permanent Competition, and moved it under the archives for 2002, the year when Zak started it. It hasn't aged well, and no replays are available. If we'll bring it back, it will be with a different format.

  You did the right thing. I guess in those pre-golden age times everything has more individual perspective than a community perspective. Then in 2002-2003 it started to change. Now we are heading a new Stunts Community era. A future permanent competition with the original tracks must have public replays.

  Second last, driving fast!

  October is here, and the end of the 2021 season is closing in. It's been a busy mid-year, let's see where we are!

  The scoreboard

  With Looping Warriors taking a step back from the competition after spring, we've have seen an impressive fight between Alan Rotoi, clawing for every leading-time hour under the sun, and Duplode, the current ZakStunts champion, racing somehow defensively. The result, with two tracks left in play, is Alan leading by 18 points, buoyed by eleven LTB points—an extra race by themselves. Is math on his side, and his position unassailable?

  Further down the table we find another duo: KyLiE and Overdrijf are racing for the third position. There's a few points between them, but drop the worst three results and everything is still on the table. Will KyLiE manage is 5-point lead, or will Overdrijf overtake him in this last two months?

  Closing the top-6 is Zapper: a hero for many as the designer of the Ferrari F40 and the early tuned cars, this year he decided to join us and burn some rubber on the tarmac. And what a season!

  Looking instead at the Newbie championship, we have KyLiE and Zapper in the lead. But the real competition is happening behind them, between Igor and Ryoma, Daniel3D and Frieshansen. Low participation in the past months makes things a bit uncertain, but we'll see how these last two tracks develop.

  The format

  End of season is always a moment of retrospection, and plans for next year. Right now we are discussing possible rule changes for 2022, and all feedback is welcome!

  We are also trialling a new Amateur competition to replace the "Newbie" one, with slightly different criteria. Too early to have any results, but I'm looking forward to seeing it in full action next year.

  Lastly, we bid (temporary?) farewell to the Permanent Competition. Started in 2002, it included the original Stunts tracks, plus a "closed" version surrounded by water. Participation stopped about a decade ago, and no old replays are available, so it now belongs to the archives.

  Anyway, two tracks left! Go download Daniel3D's Crazy Eight, and send us your lap. Fast, slow, entirely in first gear? we want to see it!

  @Ryoma: I recently discussed the matter on the forum, it is not clear whether I have to be considered an amateur or not. About the bonus, it is positive, I guess that simply the absolute value of the natural bonus is graphically summed with the modificator for this race, so the real bonus is the difference between the green segment and the red one.

  One thing you can do to get better at cornering is redriving corners a lot. Find a good section break/point where you compare your times a few elements after a corner or corner combination, then try to get a replay with the fastest time. Corners are tricky and deceptively realistic (by Stunts standards). You lose time by getting your entry speed wrong and by getting your initial line wrong. If you have to brake during a corner or if you have to steer less to widen your line because you're going off track on the inside you're probably not getting a fast time. Though that is not to say you should never reset to a point inside the corner, the exact steering key presses matter a lot as well. Try to see where you start slipping and when you need to release and repress the steering (and just sometimes even countersteer for the shortest possible moment) to tag a great finish onto a good start. I'm not nearly as good at corners as someone like Duplode is, but this is what I did to improve. My "let's just try it for a hour" replays in particular have gotten a lot more competitive.

  However in an IBM PS\2 model 25 is not avable a desktop puplishing but word lode runner...and Stunt whit minimun frame rate. A pc Intel 80286 is an ather planet!!!!!

  @Frieshansen, the recompiled version of stunts uses less system resources when the game starts. Could you try it in emulation. It doesn't support Hercules graphics yet but it support EGA, CGA and Tandy.   How you succeed to pass throw the loop ? I tried a lot and d'ailes the same numbers...

  @Ryoma there is a minimum speed for the trick (~150mph), and you also need to aim straight at the base of the loop. Alignment can be difficult because the loop bends left at the start, messing up the frame of reference. More details: Stunts Wiki: Loop

  @Alan please enjoy your replay from C243 in it´s full Hercules Graphics Glory: I like the racing sound from the PC Speaker, but find the music a bit intrusive in the long run. I´m always playing with SB-Sound. Tried also MT32 but didn't convince me. @afullo How about another level deeper. The Stunts Card-Game: with cards to lay out the course and tin figures as cars. For movement you´ve to roll the dice. @Daniel3D I am very happy to make a video with this Mod the next few days. Maybe a comparison next to the original or something in the direction - let's see.

  @Alan I used PCem for Emulation - there you can define whole Systems. It´s more accurate but also more complicated than DOSBox. You can also get this graphic in DOSBox by adding (or changing) the line "machine=hercules" in the dosbox.conf. Please let me know if I can help somewhere. Thanks for the subscription!

  @Alan ah, the Stunts-Quartet - very nice. That would also be easier than implementing my idea. Originally I was thinking of something more complicated. Playing-Cards with individual parts on each of them like the tiles in the track editor to lay out the course and dice like in Monopoly to move on. Maybe cards with random events, like a magic carpet or whether you can get straight through the slalom. @Marco although I don't know you, I still want to wish you a happy birthday!

  @Frieshansen: Do you happen to know the game Saboteur? (It's about gnomes mining towards gold, it's good.) I think an idea like that could actually work... You play a track element one by one until the track is completed (closed circle) or you run out of cards or spaces on the board. (Maybe a 7x7 board with the start in the center or 8x8? That would leave the tracks looking a bit like Quarantine Rooms... QR (2020-03-29) Also maybe have some rules to try and prevent too many uncompleted tracks?) You can probably build both in front of the start/finish and behind it, to prevent something like a ramped road from making everyone unable to play, if those are used at all. But everyone has a secret identity, and every identity has its own scoring method for which kinds of tracks they like. Like Otto gets penalties for elevated and aerial Stunts, Skid gets penalties for flat tracks, Helen scores on slaloms and gets penalties for boulevards. Instead of laying a card as a tile you can maybe play certain cards that hinder or help others (Fence slide: you cannot lay road pieces until the track hits the outer layer of tiles; Powergear: play 2 cards on your next turn), but you don't know which identity they have, so you have to guess by what they seem to be doing. If you're Otto, too many loops are going up and you think you know who Bernie is, help them make the track more boring. That would be a very different spin on the Car cards! concept from what I experimented with before.

Unfortunately I don't have the time to work on this - that would be a cool project! I didn't know your cards project either. A lot has already been gathered here.   Sorry for being late, but happy birthday, Marco! Fun fact: "stunt" means "hour" in a dialect spoken only in Timau, a little Italian village very near to the Austrian border (municipality of Paluzza, province of Udine), founded during Middle Ages by miners native to Carinthia. This is by all chance a distortion of the standard German "stunde", influenced by both isolation (the dialect includes several archaisms) and languages from the southern side of the Alps (not only standard Italian, but also other broader languages such as Friulian).

  @Frieshansen: I currently have your whole Stunts themed boardgame where you lay track tiles to create a track and then race around on it idea stuck in my head. I'm not saying it will lead to anything, because I am if anything busier than I was when I abandoned/shelved my previous few unfinished Stunts projects, but if it does by chance lead to anything, can I share it with the community? Asking because I got the idea from you and all. If you'd rather work the concept out yourself I understand.
