    Yes, happy birthdays dudes! @Everyone_interested_in_a_Stunts_Meeting: Over on the forums we're brainstorming about organizing a get-together in 2023 somewhere in (or around?) Europe. The first things we need to nail are a date, a location and at least roughly who's in so people can start arranging for stuff like transportation. If you are interested and likely to come in for such a meeting I would like your input on the date in text or votes or both in this thread: Attempt to find a date for a World/Euro Stunts Meeting 2023. For all other suggestions, like locations (the Amsterdam area has taken an early lead, but we have all seen what that amounts to on our leaderboards), we have the main thread: World STUNTS meeting 2023. There's no thread yet for planning a simultaneous South American Stunts Meeting. ...Hint, hint.

    Yeah, this is Zapper's track. When he beat my 2.07.70 with 2.07.50, I considered improving the end of my replay so that I could submit 2.07.45 or something. However, my feeling was that he would respond immediately, and hence I did not bother. ;-) To hang with you guys, I need a whole new lap from scratch!

    I've decided to not go last minute racing this month. I'm sparing my laptop before sending it in for resuscitation. I'll probably try beating your times/imitating your laps over the season break though. And I'll be back and improved in the new season. That makes this a good point to wish you all happy whatever you're doing in the season break. Stay happy, stay safe, stay fast. (Also this might have made it sound like I'm going away for a while or something, but I still have 2 devices on which I'm constantly and obsessively checking Zakstunts and the forums. So not quite.)

    I started in 2014 with decimals too. Then Rokker Zsolti and Boller Jani were exposed as CTG's ghosts (in March 2015), so the scores were recomputed with three exclusions (also CTG himself was disqualified from the competition for that year), and all of them but one became integers.

    The points after 12th position are a joke. I am cumulative at half a point in 6 races. So an average of 1 point a season. Luckily I don't race for the points,

    I think @Zak did it for that porpose and it worked. A math porpose. Now maybe we need a point system with a larger scale. Top 20 maybe? A point fight for 10-20th season's scoreboard would be cool. I want fights in every segment of the scoreboard.

    About points. I have to admit that the amateur scoreboard does work well. It's just a shame that it doesn't translate in the lower part of the main scoreboard.

    @Daniel3D That's why there is a separate scoreboard. The fractional points were introduced to avoid assigning zero points to low positions, as it happens in F1. That way we have some kind of ordering in the season scoreboard. I do agree that with more regular racers we could switch to a better point system. Great discussion on the Forum! You were in third place before the last corkscrew but annihilated Alanrotoi and me in the final part of the track. Wow, just wow! Congratulations to Alanrotoi for winning the championship and edging me out for the 2nd place in C257. Clearly the best driver this season! Congratulations to Frieshansen and KyLIE for finishing 3rd and 4th overall. We will have to watch out for you next season!

  • 2022 Season Wrap-up

    Hello grizzled drivers and young racers, and welcome to the 2022 ZakStunts finale. It’s been another year of great participation, exciting tracks, and surprises — in the competition and in the forum.

    The main competition opened with Alan Rotoi, the 2021 champion, holding on to the top of the scoreboard in a victory streak, closely followed by Looping Warriors in full force: CTG, Akoss Poo and Usrin were battling for the podium steps with Alan and Duplode. A third into the season, the momentum of the Hungarian team unfortunately slowed down. At the same time, the hard training to which Alan’s subjected his new team, Doubleplusspeed started to give results: Frieshansen raised to the top of the Amateur scoreboard (from which he would be kicked out mid-season after reaching 10 experience points), and the team collected two full podiums. These pushed the other strong contender for the title in fourth place, cementing (asphalting?) Alan’s lead.

    In the last third of the season, the battle for the title somehow sizzled in the background, leaving space to a number of exciting mid-scoreboard battle, including that for LTB points. KyLiE, Zapper and Frieshansen were a big part of this, and we saw more of Heretic and Overdrijf.

    Alan Rotoi again collected most of the LTB points of this season, closing the year with a 15-point lead of Duplode, and raising the Championship trophy for a second year in a row!

    Amateur competition

    This year saw the introduction of the all-new Amateur scoreboard, which replaced the Newbie Competition for all non-pro racers, new entries or longer in the tooth. Drivers can be promoted out of this category at any time, if they collect sufficient “pro” results, such as stepping on the global podium. This happened to Frieshansen last August. The season started has a two-way battle between himself and Heretic, with Ryoma, Cas and afullo fighting for third position.

    As the season progressed, the Amateur scoreboard lost first Ryoma, then Frieshansen, changing the dynamics somehow. Heretic went on with a series of strong results, bringing home the first Amateur title! Cas and afullo duelled for the rest of the season, but Cas made it second with a four-point lead. Shoegazing Leo pushed on the accelerator in the second part of the season, but that was not enough to catch up with the podium results.

    A few new and old faces showed promise as well, but with fewer results are stuck mid-scoreboard: Daniel3D, Erik Barros, ZdnBurns, but also Kaweashkar, Shorty (welcome back!), and last-minute entry LA108!

    Team competition

    I might be biased here, but the new team on the block, Doubleplusspeed, had a really strong season in 2022! With 100% participation and two full-team podiums, they lift the trophy 61 points ahead of Cork’s Crew. In third position we find Rolling Stunts, with 123 points and 88% participation—an impressive result with a four-people team. Fourth place to Looping Warriors, lifted by a strong start of the season, and good coverage by CTG and Usrin in the latest months.

    This is a good place to advertise the team thread on the forum, where teams and racers can find each other for next year, whether they are recent arrivals at ZakStunts, or long-running teams looking for some fresh blood.

    Live races

    A shout here to Cas, Daniel3D, KyLiE and Overdrijf for organising awesome live racing events. We had three well-attended edge-of-your-seat events, a record in recent years. So we are looking to organise four in 2023, and beat that record. That’s how the Stunts community likes to live.

    Forum life

    Lunchtime was a bit ago, and I don’t dare starting on a “State of the Stunts.hu Community” section. I’ll leave writing one of those post to someone else—mmmh, yes, YOU! Lots of interesting activity though, including more reverse engineering work, exciting new cars, threads full of statistics. We do love some Excel after dinner.

    A final thank-you goes to Zak for helping with the server upgrade, which means we now have an improved forum and a much shinier wiki. Looking forward to see them grow in the next year!

I love how the weird looping square which I designed like "just figure something out" ended up having a very clear favorite line while the parts where I thought "okay, here we're on the road for this combination of elements" turned into sections with interesting varied solutions.

    Thanks! @Overdrijf My favourite part is the two lines at the northernmost section were broadly equivalent, with half of the top 6 going for each option. @Argammon Yup, there's a ton of data that can be mined from the repldump binary dumps -- and if any of you have suggestions for what would be nice to see in a visualisation, I'm all ears!
