  • KaoS
sorry boys i was sick.... i cant be activ @TractionFaction but now im back Smiley
  • Overdrijf
Just try to keep your distance from my car. It won't help me not getting infected, but it might help me get more points. Cheesy
  • GTAManRCR
    COVID-19?
  • Duplode
Welcome back, KaoS! And GTAMan15: besides the lovely PSX theme, this is a nice slow track. Thumbs up!
  • Seeker1982
Guess what I wish for as my birthday-present Wink
  • Overdrijf
In that case Seeker you need to improve your time by about 7.5 seconds. We found an amazing powergear line.
  • afullo
Happy birthday, mate! Thanks Cas, being a researcher I worked full time even during the lockdown. Btw, are you feeling better?
  • Overdrijf

  • Stingray86
Sorry Dreadnaut, I didnt realise you sent me an E-mail way back on the 10th of Feb! Yes I like the changes to the track Smiley I trust your best judgement in regards to the car Bonus %, all I request is that the Vette recieves a high bonus! Smiley
  • Cas
@afullo - Yes, I am now totally recovered. Even my sleep and eating patterns (which I thought had changed permanently) are going back to the usual. This global situation now is a big problem, but for us curious people, it's also an opportunity to learn a lot. When I am sick and go to the doctor, they usually think I am too worried. I explain it's not fear, but curiousity that makes me ask so many questions. Now it's not just my body that the experiment is running on, but the whole world. We'll suffer, but... damn, we'll learn!
  • afullo
Glad to know you have fully recovered. Yeah, this pandemic is globally speaking probably the worst health crisis of the latest 100 years, but, if we want to transform something from negative to positive, maybe many of us will learn that the main dangers for humans are not other humans, but rather challenges connected to our relation with nature and environment...
  • Overdrijf
In game terms: We finally got another good PvE event.
  • Cas
Yeah, we need to be able to tell when we say "the world" in which cases we mean "Earth" and in which cases, we just mean "us". But, you know, philosophy often sounds like a game you can ignore if you're not playing -- Alright, this is more of a topic for the forum than here, ha, ha. I need to start writing the article!
  • afullo
@Overdrijf: yes, and subsequent events (firstly, global warming with all the consequences in climate change) could follow, so we have to be ready, and we have to avoid complicate the matter by adding unnecessary PvP events. - @Cas: indeed, it's easy to think of the concept of "the world" as something external to us or even abstract, but in fact it is actually us. Nice article, but... did the quiet replays get published?

May 4

  • dreadnaut
Quiet replays published, sorry for the delay!
  • Overdrijf
    Congratulations Seeker! Victory!
  • Overdrijf
(Also, welcome to the club, mister 24. Stunts Wiki: List_of_ZakStunts_race_winners You're the first one to make the club using the LM02 since the very first member back in race 1.)
  • Stingray86
Well done Seeker! That was an impressive trick on turn 5. Always see something new in the winning replays Smiley
  • Duplode
VzRfLrq.png There it is! Congratulations, Seeker!
  • Seeker1982
Yes, my first win in the main comp \o/ Thanks for the flowers Grin I suspected that Overdrijf's claimed power-gear-time was bogus
  • Overdrijf
Well I couldn't make it too believable, could I? If I just said I had improved that might motivate you to sharpen your own time, reducing my chances. Wink
  • dreadnaut
Scoreboard confirmed! Congratulations to Duplode, Overdrijf, and Seeker1982, who finally conquers the top step of the podium! ?
  • dreadnaut
And the new track is up, courtesy of @Stringray86 Smiley Prepare your off road tires, we're going to Australia!
  • afullo
    Good job, Seeker! Cheesy
  • Overdrijf
Ooh, we're already having a close race, and we're 2 replays in.
  • Cas
Wow! Nice map on this track, Stingray! Did you draw the terrain by hand with Bliss or did you use anything to generate it first? It looks pretty accurate. And congratulations, Seeker!
  • Alan Rotoi
Congrats Seeker! Nice Australian map BTW!

May 5

  • Stingray86
Thanks @Alan and @Cas, I just created this in Stunts. Lots of map referencing and tile counting. This is actually a photo realistic exact copy of Australia's highway network, complete with famous Ayres Rock loop jump! :p
  • Overdrijf
My only complaint is that the ships in the south are going the wrong way. That's where both the ocean currents and the prevailing winds point east. :p (Blame the school system, we had to read Bontekoe's ship journal as historic literature.)
  • Stingray86
You are 100% correct Overdrijf. I was concentrating too much on the accuracy of the highway system and not enough on the ocean currents Tongue The proximity of New Zealand is a little off too but I just had to include it @Cas
  • Overdrijf
P.S. I agree the Australia map was done brilliantly, and I'll also share my tip for doing something similar. When I was working on Die Ottobahn ( Stunts goes Dtm ) I took Otto's ingame portrait and downsized it to 30x30 pixels, one pixel for each square of the track. This together with a standard (not super shrinked) reference can really help pin down where exactly certain things go. You'll still be shifting things around a little bit to have the pixel art make more sense (like the "2" in that Ottobahn picture, that worked better if I just squared it out on the map rather than trying to paint it in its exact original size and position, and like the position of New Zealand in this Australia, which I wouldn't have noticed if Stingray hadn't said anything), but it's the most accurate way of working I have found.
  • CTG
I like realistic track maps. https://web.archive.org/web/20150531003550im/http://users.atw.hu/unskilledstunts/cc2014/iceland.png

  • Reporting on ZCT225

ZCT225 is over... and so it's been for a few days already. Sorry that I took some time for the analysis!

A fierce race full of fast Mercedes... or so it seemed for most of it. We've been watching its evolution until the quiet day replays transformed the scoreboard. Boom! The LM002 dominates by far! It even caught me by surprised and had to rewrite my analysis.

Now, one could've said that switching to the LM002 would not be enough, in spite of all, but Seeker1982 went ahead and proved them wrong, leading the podium and even making several final-seconds of difference. And above all, bringing home is first ZakStunts victory! Following him, Overdrijf and Duplode showing that the Mercedes remains a good option for top pipsqueaks.

Behind the podium—and indeed, there's a gap there!—four more LM002s: CTG, Stingray86, Dreadnaut and Heretic.

And what will happen next? ZCT226 (Terra Australis) is already ongoing and looks like a lot of fun! Nice racing!

May 13

  • Cas
Alright... finally, I'm putting some attention back to Race For Kicks. No current challenge (race) is ongoing, but all tracks coming with Stunts (permanent competition) are up. You guys can give them a shot here: http://r4k.fnhost.org
  • Cas
Oh, I wanted to point out... In R4K, races/challenges are always OWOOT because it's the tournament rules and may sometimes have special rule. But the permanent competition tracks are to be raced in whichever style you want. You just select the style you used and post the replay. It's for records.

May 17

  • KaoS
Damn... i forgot to take in GARcomp... Sad can some admin check it? thanks
  • dreadnaut
I've added the GAR tag added to your replay, @KaoS! Which led me to discover that we are reaching 5000 replays stored in the system! ?

May 18

  • KaoS
    Im Honored Smiley

May 19

  • Seeker1982
A slight improvement on GAR times due to KaoS getting quite close Cheesy
    Trueno 1:36.18

May 20

  • Duplode
... just as *I* thought I was getting closer Cheesy
    Trueno 1:37.96
  • dreadnaut
    Happy birthday @FinRok!
  • Duplode
    Happy birthday, FinRok Smiley

May 21

  • Cas
    FinRok! Happy birthday, pal!
  • KaoS
I will ask something. What is that with the Quite Days? When I upload a replay in the Quite Days will it count when the race ending?

May 22

  • dreadnaut
Replays sent during the Quiet Days are hidden from the scoreboard until the end of the race. When the race ends, they will count as normal.

May 23

  • Cas
That's right! I'd like to add that they also do not appear in the "Latest results" section above the shoutbox. So this is a way to post a "surprise replay". For this reason, when posting your best replay for the track, you should speculate on how much better other racers may have improved their own even if they haven't yet posted such improvements.

May 25

  • Seeker1982
Hello, can someone change my current GAR-lap time/record (2:17,40) to the last GAR-lap I drove (2:17.70 in the Trueno). It's because I know the faster lap is invalid
  • Duplode
@Seeker1982: Done; GAR flag cleared from the 2:17.40 lap.
  • Seeker1982
    wow, that was fast Cheesy

May 26

  • Cas
Dreadnaut @dreadnaut, I've sent a track to your e-mail and a PM in the forum!

May 27

  • dreadnaut
    Got it, thank you!

May 29

  • Marco
Hi my friends how our you ? Very please to see that the GAR is still alive and with very great racers. I was never been completely satisfied about the corkscrew rule but I would like to know your opinion. It's a particular element in which 2 parts of road are croxed each other in a perpendicular way. In my rules i said that at least one pixel of the car must be on the crox line so to reduce the possibility to jump and take speed (clearly avoided) . Are you satisfied with this rule or you could prefer a more strictly rule like "all the car must pass from the crox line entering and exiting the corkscrew ?. (have you understood ?)
  • Marco
Ohhh, finally Seeker got his victory on the main championship ... WOW
  • CTG
LOL, "CTG" is already an adult (debut in 2002).

May 30

  • Duplode
Hello Marco, nice to see you! About the l/r corks: I think the rule is fine as it is; no need to make it even more strict.
  • Marco
    Thanks Dup, Perfect then
  • dreadnaut
I can't believe Seeker1982 got exactly 480 hours at the end of the LTB period Smiley
  • Duplode
Well-spotted! It's interesting how every single hour can make a difference with the new LTB system.
  • Seeker1982
a small last-minute improvement on my GAR time Cheesy Dir ihr hier entretet lasset alle Hoffnung fahren Wink
    Trueno 1:34.99

May 31

  • dreadnaut
    Let's publish those quiet replays...
  • Seeker1982
Lol,Duplode is leading the herd in the RH-comp by the same amount like I do lead the GAR-times Cheesy
  • Duplode
If that's the case, I guess I'm doing it right Cheesy (By the way, if y'all want to figure out how the Trueno should be driven, load Seeker's GAR replay, watch and learn.)
  • dreadnaut
Scoreboard confirmed, congratulations to Overdrijf, Seeker1982, and Duplode on the top step! ?
  • Seeker1982
just watched Duplodes main-comp-replay; didn't knew one can loopcut mid-air and you carried more speed through the jump onto the elevated road-corner. That should be the main differences between mine and you main/rh-replay
  • dreadnaut
And the new track is up, thank you @Cas!
  • CTG
This track is screaming for a helicopter finish. Almost done. Almost...
    Acura 1:14.13
  • Cas
Yes, the Acura! That's the car I was thinking of when I made this track. I even wrote to Dreadnaut and told him that I wasn't skilled enough, but I knew this could be done with that car.
  • Cas
Posting my first RPL with the 962. This is a NoRH replay, but not GAR. I'll try the Acura later on. @CTG - I'm having problems to play your replay. This has happened to me in the past. If fast-forwarded to near the end, one can see you reached the finish line normally, but if you want to play it from beginning to end, your car appears to be lost at some point and never return to the track. Stunts glitches.
    P962 1:28.98
  • Alan Rotoi
Always there is a problem around him. ALWAYS Cheesy
  • CTG
    A L W A Y S ! ! ! BÖÖFF!!! Böff dampening: < 1dB
    Acura 1:13.02
  • Duplode
@Cas: Yup, that sort of thing happens sometimes with intense PG laps. As long as it is possible to somehow see the car crossing the line upon replaying it, it is all good.
    Ferrari 1:10.80
  • Seeker1982
after all that Toyota Truno racing from the previous track that P962 like Knight Rider in Pursuit Mode -> everything feels like it's speed up Cheesy
  • CTG
Dedicated to a possible Acura race...
  • Cas
Airwolf! Precisely yesterday, I was telling my brother (who was born near the break of the 21st century) about the series and its music. And about the track, yes. Another track I made some time ago, I had expected would be ideal for the Acura, so I called it "Accuracy", but it turned out to be raced with other cars. -- Oh, one more thing. Race For Kicks is finally back with a tournament race starting now, ending at the 29th of June, zero hours GMT. If you guys fancy some OWOOT, you can try it. http://r4k.fnhost.org
  • afullo
Maybe the car just encountered a lost soul: https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Demo_desyncing_caused_by_bouncing_lost_souls Cheesy
  • CTG
Hahaha, maybe the only original Stunts trick I have ever discovered. ZCT055... that was (a really Classic) fun.
