FrikerHeh.. I have a problem - I drove a valid lap. Rewound to 0:00 and played. A bug happened and the car in the replay have not finished. Rewound a few seconds - the car appeared at a "correct" position (at which I was during riding) and the replay finished correctly. Is it valid? Also when I Load Replay the same thing happens..

Duplode@Friker The current rule (it was changed after an incident at ZCT232) is that the replay is valid if it appears complete after loading *from the Options menu* (that is, if you load and immediately rewind 1.05 s you will see the car crossing the finish tile as expected). If it doesn't, you'll have to "fix" the instability, most likely by doing a little RH tweak around the point the replay diverges.

FrikerThanks for the response. I guess my replay is valid then (after loading from Options menu the car is correctly behind the finish line, at -01.00s a center of the car is crossing the finish line - btw - I just found that crossing of a center of a car is counting as finishing..). But I will try to get another try before deadline.

MarcoWow my friends, I red about the NO-RH Stunts project. This sounds great and i would be super great to me if it could be possible to remove also the "turn to left super grip". I m using 4d sports driving instead of Stunts for this reason but in 4d sports driving there are other bugs like the problem of the 10 minutes track limit.

Friker@GTAMan15 I don't want to offend you but.. are you sure you are not a CTG's ghost? @Marco What is "turn to left super grip"? I hope even after a successful NoRH Stunts project there is a place for RH competitions where you can win with a replay which is incorrectly played by the game engine itself.

DuplodeHi @Marco! Finding what causes left corner bias will require a deep dig into the code, but I feel that, with enough persistence, we'll someday be able to make an alternate version that removed it fro mthe BB 1991 physics.

Like in 1.0, you can drive past 10 minutes to even 25, you don't have an advantage cornering left, and opponents drive better In 1.1, you can't penetrate through tunnel roof, calculates faster, RH is also faster

Duplode@GTAMan That's a long way ahead, but yeah, part of the long-term vision goes along those lines The current stage of Restunts allows mostly small tweaks to the code, and rewriting entire parts of it for bigger changes isn't really feasible yet, but that might change In The Future (TM)

Duplode@GTAMan15 Don't worry, such a change is not on the cards -- ZakStunts is staying as an RH competition. To me (and to most people here, I believe) RH and NoRH are, so to speak, two different disciplines within the same sport, both equally valid.

Duplode@dreadnaut I was writing a message to you about that, as this is partly my fault: On April 2, I told Friker that to test the replays it was enough to load from the Options menu, rewind 1.05 s and see if it crosses the line, because that was how I thought it was supposed to work. Can we please, *please* relax the rule so that test is enough? I'm not asking just to paper over my mix-up. The connected slides in the final sector make instabilities there very hard to fix (I have tested that). We're risking a bloodbath by sticking to the strictest interpretation.

OverdrijfI am all for counting any replay that can be played in any way as valid. I don't think anyone can play the game on purpose in such a way that they get crash but get a faster finish in the replay because of it. Then again I am one of the causes for the rule, so maybe I shouldn't advocate against it too hard.

dreadnautThe test was meant to be simple for everyone to check: load the replay, press play, if the replay reaches the finish line then it's valid. Seems like I've missed the messages a few days ago though, and that's on me. Headache though—literal, not the situation—so let's look at this tomorrow. Rules should make things clear, not cause pain.

FrikerBtw - I am completely fine with the fact that my last replays are not valid if you say so. Even if it changes placements and Duplode told me otherwise. Unfortunately I could not produce any valid replays from that line - they've all went out-of-sync in various places after jump. Still, I would like to know why is that - I though that rewinding and playing forward are using the same simulation procedure - apparently not.

OverdrijfLast time it also happened in a powergear race. There was a jump, where you had to just miss a bridge that was in the way, and on replay I and I think someone else hit the bridge and crashed. I have no idea why it happens, but if I had to guesv (or wanted to guess, as the case may be) it might have to do with how sometimes in powergear your top speed can be 255 mph. There is something particularly unreliable about the driving in PG. Doing a lot of RH also may not help. Maybe restarting driving from just the wrong frame does something?

FrikerNo, it does not. I think - in my case - "the wrong frame" is somewhere within the section 1:38:50 - 1:46:10. Or a bit after that. After the third turn (at 1:46:10) I needed a pretty tight turning which is not possible without RH (for me). I guess there is somewhere some kind of rotation which is causing some kind of overflowing and when replaying it behaves differently than when rewinding. I tried more ways of entering and exiting the third turn - every one of them produced "invalid" replay.

OverdrijfAlso, we did some congratulating in the chat yesterday, but this race was good enough to do it again: congratulations @Argammon for a supreme victory with a ten second gap, even after telegraphing the trick he was using, absolutely champion style. Congratulations @Friker for what is turning into a good and consistent comeback, even if it may or may not trabslate into championship points. Congratulations @Erik_Barros for taking the newbie league by 30 seconds (!). For the record, my time when I told you you could beat me was something like a 2:07 driven, and even with how well my evening redrive went (I eveb gained almost a second back on Duplode in the last third, I had a good time yesterday) it got pretty close. And congratulations @Ryoma for a very, very sharp time on what I presume (haven't watched any replays yet) is a partial PG lap (as in: troubles with the tricky end section). Finally congratulations for the whole silent replay @top_12 squad. Those are all good results, and all potential top 5 or something in a more quiet month, even if I didn't congratulate you by name because I'm not in the least surprised by how good your results are.

Overdrijf@Friker: your run might have been screwed up a bit earlier. Sometimes when you get a magic carpet you can redrive from shortly before it, do things a little different and still get the same magic carpet. Something like that might be going on. Although I have to admit, the entire run up to a corner is a long time to carry such a calculation error bug thing along without seeing it.

DuplodeOn the replays situation: @Friker's comments only confirm what I had said before about how hard it could get on this track. We have three out of four unstable replays among the final top 4 laps (only Argammon's lap plays 100% normally; mine plays to the end but in two different ways). I'm in favour of a moratorium: for this race at least, let all replays stand.

ArgammonRegarding the replay issue. I know of one way how it is caused: 1) We must have a borderline case of crash/no crash together with a high speed. 2) When the car crashes, clicking on the rewind button appears to repair the car. When you then continue driving the irregularity persists. 3) Rewinding to a point good before the crash avoids the problem and is what I do. In any case, I don't have a problem with Frikers replay being counted as valid.

Duplode@Argammon While that's one way it might play out, it is not the most common one. Typically, the divergence will happen several seconds before any crash (in my replay, for instance, it's no less than 8 seconds), and, since you're using RH and rewinding every now and then, the replay adjusts itself and you don't get to notice the divergence at all while you're driving. That's one of the things that makes this issue so treacherous.

OverdrijfIf you don't find someone else to do a track I can do one, that worked out pretty well last time... (A sort of base idea just popped into my head, or I have some stuff that was mostly finished for the museum project.) It would be ready in 24ish hours. But I'm also up for someone else's design or a nice retro track from a one car competition (or indeed from 2008) or something.

FrikerOk, maybe I care a bit more than I thought. I finally looked at rules and there really is a rule that says that replays should be valid when replaying from start to finish. And I agree that that rule should be applied to ZCT260. But I would like to have a discussion about this rule - I will probably make a thread in Forum but before I ask here first - maybe you know for sure - If you would start a new drive and input exact same inputs as in a replay - do you think that result of that driving is such 1. exactly as it would play in a replay from beginning/2. exactly as last position of replay when loaded from a file? If you don't know for sure I would move discussion to Forum and make a investigation proposal/rule change proposal.

dreadnaut@Friker "Unstable" replays sometimes load OK, showing the finish line, and sometimes load in their broken state. Sometimes they can be fixed by rewinding a bit, sometimes by switching camera 🤯 — Happy discuss the rule and its future in the Forum!

Reporting on ZCT260
In ZCT260, ZakStunts 2023 has had another fascinating race, with plenty of activity and intriguing subplots.
Though envisioned by Cas as a flowing IMSA track, ZCT260 had plenty of long straights and runoff in just the right amount to make it a challenging yet enjoyable powergear ride with the Ferrari GTO. With signs of how the race would develop visible from the first day, there was enough time for racers to dip their toes and then dive into PG riding. As a result, ZCT260 was the first GTO-won race in a long time in which most of the field actually stuck to the GTO, with close battles all over the scoreboard. Nice job, everyone!
The deadline day saw Argammon emerge victorious, by following up on his fascinating laps for the GTO side scoreboards on ZCT258 and ZCT259 with an absolutely outstanding replay, flying into orbit and then landing back. In the process, he has also set a new ZakStunts record for the longest gap between race victories (two hundred, from ZCT060), and made another step forward in what has been an impressive comeback. Congratulations!
In second place, we have seen Duplode, racing hard but ultimately powerless against Argammon's invention. Alan Rotoi has again taken the final podium step, and once more in fourth place there was Friker, on a strong comeback season of his own. Completing the top 6, we find Overdrijf, rounding off a solid performance for Cork's Crew, and Frieshansen, with a gorgeous magic carpet at the final sector. In the Amateur League, Erik Barros has taken the victory with an impressive performance (8th place overall), ahead of Ryoma and Heretic.
The recently started ZCT261 is evolving in a pretty different direction: a shorter, tighter course for sports cars, nestled in the mountains of central France. It is a design originally by Krys TOFF for his Feel The Thrill competition, which is all the more fitting for the current times, as Daniel3D's initiative picks up the torch of NoRH-first competition. However it plays out, we are set for further thrills and spectacle from newcomers, veterans and returnees, Stunts racers of all stripes.

(Even though I'm the biggest deadline day driver of them all.)
