FrieshansenOK, got it: "Thanks Z&d for 2^8 races" Very nice!
-
OverdrijfNice, that was quick. You're good at this. Also, I agree with me: A huge thanks to Zak and dreadnaut, and a more regular sized thanks to all of the executive committee, map makers, car builders and drivers, for the nice and round number of 256 races.
-
dreadnautAhahah, that's brilliant. Thank you @Overdrijf!

Erik BarrosThank you @Overdrijf, I'm working to improve my times. I still haven't been able to reproduce the bug of going under the loop.
-
Overdrijf@Alan, @Stan: Yesh, I kinda like how it sort of looks like it's some sort of an image. I puzzled around with a few different versions of the message, this one stuck because it camouflages better. @Erik: Cutting straight through the loop is a speed and (sort of) timing thing. Essentially the car is in front of the loop in one frame, and behind it in the next. Shorter cars can do it at slightly lower speeds than faster ones, but all of them need to go pretty fast to do it, otherwise they end up clipping the surface no matter what they do. The second part, the timing, is tricky. There's no way to do such sub-frame timing on the go, it's mostly a matter of trying a bunch of times. Often it helps to redrive from inside of before the last corner, to slightly change up your line. Because if you only redrive some straight road you'll end up arriving at the loop with exactly the same timing you had before. In this case you might have to find a non-corner way to change your timing.

dreadnautScoreboard confirmed! Congratulations to @Overdrijf, @Duplode and @AlanRotoi 🏆 Impressive dual-dual-way switching, something to remember for the future!

dreadnautGreat laps also from @Frieshansen, who brings home two LTB points, @Zapper overtaking @KyLiE, and @Heretic topping the amateur scoreboard 🏁
-
dreadnautThe new track will be coming up later today, or tomorrow. In the meanwhile, join us on the forum: let's talk about 2023! 🚀 Competition 2023
-
OverdrijfTrack sent. I did my best to make it as un-Overdrijf as possible, so we wouldn't have similar races back to back.
-
OverdrijfThis is Otto's Christmas, named after the man who calls everyone a pipsqueak and who likes racing through corner combinations more than the big aerial stunt. It's a celebration of classic racing and a present to the oldschool drivers in the community. Merry boxes under a dying tree season! And if you celebrate Saint Nicholas feel free to ignore the shape and name of the map until December 6th.
-
Alan RotoiThanks guys! Also congrats to @Overdrijf and @Duplode! @Overdrijf, don't forget the car bonuses!
-
OverdrijfI feel like car bonuses aren't really necessary here. There are a few slower cars that have been patiently waiting to see use for a while, on a map like this they should naturally come up.
-
OverdrijfCrap, I just did a lap, but apparently I needed to completely delete my own version rather than let Windows replace it with the official one, because the system tells me my track doesn't match the one in this race. (Edit: or maybe I'm an actual idiot and replaced the one in my Bliss folder.)
-
FrieshansenCongrats to @Alan, @Duplode and @Overdrijf!

-
OverdrijfWell, looks like that's my total leading hours for this year, 102. ...is what I would say, but it looks like I've actually been building these up over the last 30 tracks or so. Long live last minute racing?
-
Alan RotoiThere are several strateries around replay hiding. Keeping away new tricks suspicion based on the lap time, hiding the car, avoinding opponents possible improvements...

-
DusteDDamn you guys are FAST! I barely finished Sorry! I didn't enter penalty time, I don't know how to calculate it!2:15.52 A
-
OverdrijfHi @DusteD, welcome! Penalty time is just the actual ingame penalty time if you've skipped too much of the track. We also have a few tricks you'll start picking up soon enough. For a lap presumably without what we call replay handling (rewinding and clicking "continue driving", allowing for laps driven more on the edge) your time actually isn’t that bad, not with a tricky car on a track full of corners. (@LA108 is just being really fast for a first competitive lap.)
-
KyLiEWelcome @DusteD! That's two new recruits today!
Nov 23
-
afulloWelcome @LA108 and @DusteD! Just a possible score bug: it seems that the 12th place does not give points for the team standings. In ZCT247, ZCT248, ZCT252 and ZCT256 the 12th placed is either the first or the second of his team, but he does not contribute to the result (he should contribute with one point). Maybe the cutoff for which if < 1 point is awarded to a player (i.e. if a rac3r does not place itself in the first 12) no team score is awarded (in order to avoid practically useless decimals in that ranking) is implemented as ≤ 1 point, or something like that...

Alan RotoiWow you woke up early @LA108. You're also improving fast!
-
OverdrijfThis might actually become one of the better showings of anyone using automatic gears in years.
-
Erik BarrosI was trying to get a good time and I noticed a bug where even passing the finish line it didn't stop the race and I managed to do more than one lap (\o/), is this normal? I have a replay saved in case anyone is interested1:50.43
Nov 26
-
afulloIt could happen, from a certain moment onwards the track parser becomes unable to determine its fundamental features, such as correct direction and where to cross the finish line from the proper side; for example, if you make a U-turn in that status, you can see that no wrong way message is displayed. It seems it is related to the presence of too many splits in a small area, being happened in the past while racing ZCT216.
-
Duplode@ErikBarros Yeah, that sometimes happens on multi-way tracks, as afullo says. Though exact circumstances aren't always 100% clear yet, it is known that some way-switching cuts can make the game lose track of which path you are supposed to be. If you feel like posting your replay on the forum, I'll be happy to have a look at it1:41.92
-
Alan Rotoi@Erik yes it happened to me too. I think it starts when the dual-way splits in the loops part. If you redrive it somewhere from here you could fix it. It is not only redriving but to not skip some important tiles. There must be a combination of skipping some of the road AND reaching the road when the different ways join.
-
OverdrijfOh, uhmm, oops. Looking at the loops knowing this happens I can kind of see why. Normally in dual way switching you have to drive (=touch that square with all four wheels at ones, I think) the first two elements (a two tile loop counts as one) of one road (not counting the split itself!) and end by driving the last two elements of the other road. If you don't do this the regular penalty time mechanic kicks in, giving you penalty time for the elements skipped, but the smallest amount of elements skipped it will penalize you for is three. So here you can do stuff like drive over the first loop of one road, end on the last loop of the other road and when the roads rejoin the system wants to penalize you for doing split roads wrong, but whichever road it tries to imagine you took you haven't actually skipped 3 elements or more. I can see how that might confuse the poor program. ... I've built such a normal map, and this is the one I end up breaking the game with... If this is what's going on I think the system will accept any replay where you stay sort of left or sort of right, driving over only the tiles of one of the roads, plus the spilts themselves and the neutral ice tiles in the middle are fine. And don't go perfectly straight down the middle either, because that may count as skipping three elements.
-
Daniel3DIt's a bug that I wanted to exploit for a live race. Unfortunately it's not consistent enough to use.
-
MarcoHi my great friends. zct257 is almost a gar race Only a cut a the end.
-
Erik BarrosI see I've been approved in the forum, I'll upload the replay... thanks guys1:42.05
Nov 27
-
OverdrijfHi Marco, good to see you!
-
OverdrijfAlso: turns out my explanation below wasn't it. It has to do with entering a dead end instead.
-
afulloSo the problem arises when you enter a dead end, and then you skip some elements of a "winning" (in the sense of Bliss) path? Dual way-switching is often associated with dead ends, it has been always thus difficult to determine in the first instance what the real causes were.
-
OverdrijfI'll just link to what Duplode wrote about it in the forums: Two Lap Race (Bug)
-
OverdrijfWow, nice, wasn't expecting the Melange!

Alan RotoiWhen MeganiuM Team was consolidated a good advantage for teamwork was using the same language. Telegram to @Zapper, @ErikBarros and @LA108. Most of times teamwork is the key of success, just by looking the history of the competition you can figure out teams beats the loners.

HunterBoy344Great news, everyone; the Stunts Online server is now on all of the time! However, before connecting, the server must first be "woken" by opening https://stunts-server.hunterboy344.com/ in a new browser tab. After doing that and waiting until the page says "Upgrade Required", you can simply put in "stunts-server.hunterboy344.com" into the server box on https://stunts.hunterboy344.com/ to connect!
-
HunterBoy344The way this works is very simple; opening the server in your web browser prompts Replit, my host, to start the server. This allows any Stunts player to connect to the server, even if I'm not there to start it manually.
-
DuplodeThe server does work nicely, @HunterBoy344! I've just had the pleasure of sharing the track with @LA108 for a few rounds
-
LA108Fun stuff! Congrats @HunterBoy344 for the server and @Duplode for beating my times
-
OverdrijfYou'll get used to it, beating times is one of the things Duplode does. (Even as you overtake him on the Zakstunts leaderboard, nice close race for place 4 there.) The big challenge is becoming fast enough to get unused to it.
