  • The season is near its end - and I am sorry for the two weeks delay launching the last track. Just too much going on lately. On ZCT184 Marco was on fire again smoking the competition. Renato being absent, Duplode secured a strong second place and FinRok finished third - with a nice extra of +2LTB congrats! The seasonal standings seem quite stable for the podium of the season, but its not the time for announcements - that will come later.

I wanted to compensate you a bit for the delay so took the efforts to design a map-based tracks - since it is almost exactly two years since we moved back from Shanghai, I took Shanghai downtown as my source map. So expect lots of high rises, (well, blocks of flats :)) and elevated highways. I'll spare you the traffic. :) Head down Nanpu bridge, make your cruise around Puxi, pass by People's Park and race down Century Avenue to Century Park, and my former home.

Do I miss it? Sometimes. but its good to be home :) Very exciting things coming up for 2017, but ZakStunts will be here for you. So, enjoy the last race of 2016!

  • Zak McKracken
    update time! Smiley
  • Marco
is this short ? really Huh? Smiley
  • Marco
Opsss, my replay does not match the current ZakStunts track. Why ? I have installed bliss editor on my stunts copy ... could this be the problem ?
  • Shoegazing Leo
"Your replay does not match the current ZakStunts track." Same error as mine

Dec 3

  • Duplode
There is nothing wrong with your replays or your Stunts copy (in particular, installing Bliss doesn't affect it). It is just that the track uploaded to ZakStunts was saved with Bliss metadata (note how the .TRK is larger than 1802 bytes), which is not present in the replay files, leading to a mismatch. Once the track in the site is replaced with a copy without metadata, you will be able to upload replays normally -- including the ones you have already driven, so don't delete them!
  • FinRok
Something really weird is in this track? I drove till the finish but the game or race wont stop the timer? or register the driven time Huh?
  • FinRok
Ah i took another route and now it works but if you drive thru the "highway" and do a little shortcut on right just besides the "tennis field" it wont finish the race!
  • Duplode
It's one of those dual-way edge cases no one quite understands. (Do note the "highway"/ring road does not lead to a complete path.)
  • Zak McKracken
sorry, track re-uploaded, you should be able to submit replays now
  • Marco
This is a clear Gar track...more norh than rh
  • Marco

The track is easy, but demands technique

  • FinRok
Marco! This is getting harder and harder, we top out our time too fast making the final days very hard Smiley

Cool that Marco and FinRok have almost the same age. This is why we never can underestimate yourselves near the 40s.

  • Cas
Wow... I just posted my first replay here without looking at any other one and I think I will definitely have to improve it. You guys have very good lap times. Also, just checked the replays at R4K (http://dimioca.com/r4k) and verified them Smiley
  • Marco
Hi Cas, You still not divided the immortality scores and i neeed that to congrats with myself on my FB page Smiley)) You know, i'm superb as correctly Friker said . And i want also to see my 3 victories on the Zak Stunts medal table !!! Smiley))

  • Duplode
I wonder how a Melange lap would play out. Perhaps it is a good idea to try it Smiley
  • Duplode
Speaking of Melange, there is a(nother) nice OWOOT track for it at http://dimioca.com/r4k . Check it out!
  • Marco
I have seen r4k and it's a very great circuit but I'm quitting RH races from Zak Stunts too so i cannot start a new one. But to be honest ,for my point of view and after tried Immortality , I think that RH on OWOOT is still worse than on trick&cut . The Way is fixed so it's only to be fast that let you win while here, you might use your fantasy or a lucky trick too.
  • Cas
Do you guys think I should implement 10% handicap in favour of replays posted as NoRH even without a good verification system? (for R4K)
  • Marco
No Cas, I don't think this could be necessary. The survived racers are not interested in NORH . I'm the only one basically escluding FinRok that anyway he likes the RH too and Duplode that participate to make me happy. Who other prefer norh to rh here ? It would be a failure but i think that it's a failure try to create a new championship too. You did a special event for the immortality and a lot of super racers didn't participate like Renato , etc. Try to start a new championship is very hard as I did with the GAR that was here in the same site ... immagine in another one. If the norh was liked enough it could be a good idea to start a norh championship on dimioca, a super great idea. For my point of view, if you want to see racers on dimioca, you must work for special events with clear prizes like the one you gave for immortality. Next event make a track without name and the winner racer will give his name to that circuit forever Smiley))

Today I tried again and , 1:51.55 with GAR Rules . When I have run 1:52 some days ago i thought that 1:51 could be almost the perfect result for a GAR race here. Today i think that it's possible to run 1:49 but ... Well , i didn't see so many racers run the GAR so i don't know if I'm for real the fastest or not. To be honest when i started this championship I was sure that i was not the fastest ... but today i think that I'm the fastest in the world , GAR speaking Smiley)) On RH I missed the experience to think to really compete against Renato and Duplode if they run seriously. Life is Very bad , a stunts racer would like to live forever.
  • Marco
5 seconds to ROK and Duplode ... do you really let me win this last GAR race with this gap Huh?

Dec 16

  • Duplode
    *4 seconds Smiley
  • Marco
Come on...at least 3 seconds Smiley

Dec 17

  • Duplode
    OK, 3 seconds Wink

Hey, Zak! Happy birthday to you! Cheesy

All right! Now the ball is in your court Wink
  • dreadnaut
Hello Zak, happy birthday —have a great day!
  • Marco
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZAK !!! OHHH FINALLY I TOOK OUT DUPLODE ON THE GAR ! It was necessary a super provocation ! I was beginning to really think to be the fastest GAR in the world and that's frustrating , much better be the 2nd or the 3rd.!!! Smiley
  • Marco
Hi Dup, sorry I have checked your replay rightnow. You drove very well and your car is absolutely in the track so I'm very sorry to notice you that you have exited the corkscrew with a speedup jump and that's not allowed on GAR race. You didn't gain so much but this is not valid. Only speedup on banked road or on jump are ok because they are quite random while no speedup on elements. Can i know your point of view regarding this lap ?
  • Duplode
Ultimately it's up to you (you are indeed the arbiter of GAR rules), but I would argue that it should be allowed. I don't see it as essentially different from the speedup that happens when you drop from the high side of a banked road exit, which (I hope!) is legal (the exact amount of speedup that you get when leaving the banked road is somewhat random, but the decision of staying on the high side in an attempt to get the drop is intentional). Furthermore, this isn't like a highway or pipe wall bump, which are physically implausible -- in this case, you are just falling from the cork surface. (By the way, it doesn't count for much, but I already used this line at least once in GAR here. Have a look at 2:07 of http://zak.stunts.hu/replays/1082 , which was my final GAR replay for Z177. The only difference is that given the configuration of the track at that point, the speedup in that circumstance was very small.)
  • FinRok
Happy Birthday Zak! and i totally agree with Duplode about the cork, as long it's not intentially done. I have also "ruined" my GAR race with exiting from cork with small speedup which it was not meant to be! I posted also that replay before my latest one,so i needed to race again with better result afterwards to be sure it wont get disqualified.

OHH, I'm in a very hard situation. Yes I designed the Gar rules but I'm not the champiosnhip ruler. Gentleman means that, if there are doubts,we must discuss them and anyone is allowed to decide for his own lap till we not defined the clear rule. I thought about this point, I checked my rules video. Corkscrew is a very particular element, for my opinion we would have to enter it with at least 2 tires in the initial perpendicular surface of the corscrew track and exit it in the same way with at least 2 tires on the final perpendicular part. This is because, Otherwise, we are cutting it.So The speedup is not the main problem but only a conseguence of cutting the element. Technically we are matching the Owoot condition but not the GAR spirit where the "elements must be performed as they are" so no cutting them. I perfectly noticed that the exit there could be a good speedup point but I have discarded my speedup laps because i was sure that it was not GAR complaint. Anyway i didn't noticed that my last lap time was not valid too according with this my opinion because I cut too,yes without speeding up, but i cut the exit too Smiley...and it seems to me that also Finrok lap is not valid by only one pixel too (classic fixed camera F£). Always my opinion speaking but, Well, my GAR rules video have different indications that this opinion is in the right GAR style more than decide to cut and jump the corkscrew on exiting. But it's also true that I didn't clearly specified that, I showed how to enter without cut with a note and then I showed a clear exit but I didn't place a note. So no comparison with banked jump speedup, here we are talking about cutting more than speeding up. I will update the rules video for the next race but for this race , I let to decide the man in first position.

I have run 1:51.00 GAR with my opinion style so clean corkscrew exit . I'm very satisfied about this lap because it's a clean drive lap. But if you consider valid the cut exit corkscrew i have a better one ,little cut without speedup but I drove faster the last part of the circuit so that 1:50.75 . Anyway I will try again because I like this circuit
  • Duplode
[Part 1 of 2] A few more words in defence of dropping from the cork edge... Up to now at least, my interpretation of OWOOT rules has been that doing a cork l/r without cutting it simply means following a line that involves driving upside down on the cork roof, while moving across the red wall in the process. Under that interpretation, dropping from the edge of the cork at the exit would not be cutting, but merely part of the normal variability of the racing line -- and indeed a drop exit follows quite naturally from, for instance, a late entry line through the cork.
  • Duplode
[Part 2 of 2] Now, if the drop exit were to be forbidden, I agree that it should be done so through a specific rule regarding the position of the car (e.g. "two wheels must be on the cork surface at the cork exit", as you have suggested, or "one wheel must be past the midpoint of the road at the cork exit"), as speedup and intention do not make good criteria (the former is too random; the latter, unverifiable). I still think it would be a draconian rule, but I guess I would be able to tolerate it in future GAR races. (I believe we approach the rules in quite different ways, in that I tend to assume that "everything that is not explicitly forbidden is allowed", while you seem to lean towards "everything that is not explicitly allowed is forbidden". I can see the point of your approach, even though I can't say I am a fan of it Smiley) As for this race, I suggest we accept the drop exit replays, given that we are past the halfway point of the race and, regardless of intention, everyone has been doing it...
  • Marco
Hi my friend, I agree with your request and your lap are valids also because it would be a problem ask to remove them for that .In my head , the GAR must not be only a NORH OWOOT race but it's a celebration of the perfect driving Smiley). For example, touch the wall is allowed but I would not be so happy with a lap where I touch the wall. This happens and i acceppted that but I'm not happy. While I'm very happy with this 1.51.00 , more than the 1.50.75 and not only because of the corkscrew exit but also because of other little things. If you drive the gAR you are an artist and you have to painting the circuit Smiley) AHAHAH. The banked road is like a jump point , no comparison for my point of view with the corkscrew exit also if a banked could make surprise but I would never ask to stay on the outside or on the inside because it has no sense while i can establish that when you are on corkscrew the surface is the corkscrew at least one pixel must enter and exit from the right point ... yes this blocks the speed up too and it's another good point for GAR. I'm sure that GAR must not have this speed up condition and that this could be easily avoided with a clear rule.

For those who don't understand Spanish, AbuRaf is saying he's having some health complications again and is now at the hospital once more. However, his son has brought him the computer, so he was able to post a replay. He greets everyone with a big hug. I'm wishing him prompt recovery so that he can enjoy Christmas and New Year with his family.

I had forgotten to publish the replays for R4K. It's been done now. Not much quorum, but I'll soon upload another track and see how it goes Smiley In case I don't post anything else today, wish you all a Happy New Year! Cheesy
  • Marco
I cannot give to a racer like Duplode the advantage to cut the corkscrew ... so here my final GAR also if I'm quite disappointed with the cut Smiley
  • Marco
happy new year to all with a special HUG to my great friend ANELIO !!!
  • Duplode
My plans of a strong finish to this race were derailed by my computer blowing up. I will try to get something done now with my old spare laptop, which isn't all that stable either...
  • Cas
Some of you, guys, must already be celebrating Smiley Have a great New Year start!
  • Duplode
Token RH improvement. I'm calling it a day, as a sub 1:50 lap just isn't gonna happen today. Congratulations Marco for the fantastic end-of-season run!
