A DOSBox weirdness report: I started getting graphical freezes while playing Stunts after updating my (Arch Linux) system this weekend, even though DOSBox itself wasn't updated. I didn't do much investigation; in any case, the freezes stopped once I switched to dosbox-staging (see https://dosbox-staging.github.io/ ). Mentioning it here in case any other Linux players find it relevant (or Seeker and GTAMan, who were discussing alternative DOSBox builds here last race).
@Duplode except I'm not on Linux
I just updated Ubuntu from 18.04.4 to 18.04.5, for the moment I'm not experiencing anything weird...
I have just switched back to plain DOSBox (if you're installing them through Arch's tools, it replaces dosbox-staging, and vice-versa) and the freezes seem to have stopped, which is good, though I guess I'll remain in the dark about what happened. @GTAMan15 When I mentioned that discussion I was mainly thinking about the playing-with-alternative-builds part of the matter. For instance, one I'd really like to give a go is DOSBox-X (see https://dosbox-x.com/ ), but it seems to have a compatibility issue with Stunts in that the save replay dialog doesn't work, which is quite discouraging.
the replay i just uploaded was my new GAR-lap, but by accident the GAR-flag hasn't been set - it tried to abort the upload process but it was to late
@Seeker1982 I have added the GAR flag.
thanks, but I drove a new and faster GAR-lap anyways
3... 2... 1... CORVETTE!
I'm sticking with the Corvette coz its me. Well done @KyLIE, you can fly the flag for us
Thanks @Stingray86. I prefer the Corvette in real life as well.
Happy Birthday @Cas! ?
Happy birthday, Cas!
O yeah, we have a friggin Duplode track race going on and I'm barely on the board yet. Help, I need more time! Does somebody have an extra Wednesday or something in their regular workweek that I can take off their hands and fit into my own calendar?
Thanks, guys! Oh, I haven't had much time here this month and now the race is virtually over!
8th finished GAR try. Can't say I have not taken this one seriously!
Nice GAR times, Zak and KyLiE! As for me, it would be nice to narrow the gap to Seeker a bit further, but I don't think it's happening.
Thanks @Duplode. I narrowed the gap for you!
It's a list filler and I found it's a great track! Damn! Congrats!
seems like I have to step up my GAR-times - great fun for me
Thanks Alan! Speaking of late replays, I might as well try a lap or two with the Carrera.
congrats Duplode esp. for winning the GAR-race
Y'know how midfield F1 teams hope for something abnormal to happen so they have a chance of beating Mercedes or whoever else is dominating? That was me today with the late change to Carrera
I did a strategy-error by changing the car to late and didn't max out the PC4 in time; instead I watched a (nice) movie
I have a driven sub 1:46 in the PC4 on my HDD, but it came to late
Yaaawn! Let's publish those quiet replays before heading to bed
Nice work @Duplode. You snaked 1st place at the last minute! Pun intended.
Scoreboard confirmed! Congratulations to Seeker1982, CTG and Duplode! ?
And the new track is up, thank you @Alan!
(1) So I actually won with that Vette replay! (2) As I was reviewing what the season standings look like now (pretty close!), I have added the LTB points for Z230. Seeker managed +1 and, after narrowly missing out on Z229, CTG got +2 by a margin of two hours. (3) From the map, @Alan 's track looks fun, and the concept is nice too!
First attempt! Hey, the design of this track is excellent. I've been reading about the Walled City and I like how you've represented it, @Alan. Very fun track, allows for lots of tricks
...and a GAR one!
Alright... so Race For Kicks is back! Thanks a lot to @KyLiE and to @Dreadnaut for all their help in the process! The new address is http://www.raceforkicks.com and will remain that way for the foreseeable future. Currently, the race of last month is over and a new one will be open soon, but you can see the scoreboard and download replays from the last race
