due to a trip of mine to a autism-conference I have to know when the quite days/replays do start. Can upload a replay as quiet this wednesday afternoon?
  • afullo
Quiet replays can be uploaded starting from the midnight between Thursday and Friday.
  • Seeker1982
that would mean I can't upload my current replay as quiet at all - the latest i can upload it would be thursday morning or the earliest sunday evening - both from my Mums PC..

Mar 3

  • Stingray86
Can you transfer the file to your phone then upload it from your phone during quiet days?

Mar 5

  • Overdrijf
What Stingray suggests works. Of course I don't know if you have an internet phone, but the site accepts it no problem.

  • dreadnaut
Race over, let's uncover those quiet replays...
  • afullo
As I just said on the forums: during the race I guessed an Acura powergear would have been also possible, but it would probably have resulted in an higher (corrected) time w.r.t. Duplode's winning lap.
  • Duplode
Looking back to three months ago, there's no way I would have bet on myself getting twenty four points by early March Smiley Nice showings from Heretic (personal best!) and Stingray.
  • Stingray86
Thanks Duplode - such insanely fast lap! Did not know you could blip the throttle like that in power gear! Congratulations Heretic, I couldn't top your time - I'm glad you're on my team Wink
  • Heretic
Thank you all! I was lucky on this track, since I have no skill with this type of layout with ice and loops. And congratulations! @Duplode
  • dreadnaut
? I'm validating the results, and Heretic's final lap looks identical to CTG's public replay from the 21st of February. They only diverge around 1'20''. @Heretic, any comments?
  • dreadnaut
In the meanwhile, I have updated the Leading Time table to show hours carried over from previous races, and to the next race. LTB points also appear as soon as a racer reaches 240 hours. Racers who collect LTB points do not carry any hours to the next race.

Mar 9

  • Heretic
I watched his replay about 100x to get my lap, I tried to follow the same line as learning for this type of track. If that features a copy or if it violates any rules, forgive me. I will try to be more authentic in the next
  • dreadnaut
Apologies for being unclear. Inspiration is not an issue, that's why replays are public. However, your lap is pixel-perfect the same. It appears that you rewound CTG's replay up to 1'20", drove a different ending, and uploaded that as your work.
  • Seeker1982
how is the end-result to interpret: Duplode and me both on 1st place and CTG on 3rd? Btw uploading my replay from my smartphone worked was quit a fight between me and CTG - I was hoping for some words on when i was back from my conference
  • Heretic
@dreadnaut I understand that the laps were similar, but they were not the same. Not even the color of the car is the same, how could I have edited it? (if there is a way, I don't know) And I don't see any rules saying that there must be a percentage difference between one replay and another. I was more than 5 seconds slower than CTG. I'm sorry but i'm not understanding this now
  • Overdrijf
@Seeker: You got the same amount of points as Duplode due to LTB, but he officially won the race with the faster time. @Dreadnaut and Heretic: I'm fine with just taking Heretic's word for it, but alternatively maybe someone like Duplode could give a second opinion on if they see a difference? Might work better than "trial by comments". (For what it's worth, I wouldn't know how to change a car's color in a replay.)
  • dreadnaut
@Heretic: could it be that you uploaded the wrong replay? The two I mentioned both use a red car.
  • dreadnaut
@Seeker it would be interesting to read about the race from *your* point of view! If you look in the articles archive, you'll see that "Diary of a race" posts are a thing Smiley
  • CTG
@Seeker: I planned to play right before the deadline. However, I was way too tired and drunk to finish a decent lap. Cheesy
  • Heretic
@dreadnaut I never use red cars! My Lancia is golden... Holy crap, I think I sent the wrong one, what I was using for training. I didn't even notice the final time when I sent, just uploaded... What do I do now?
  • Heretic
But what a shame, a beginner's mistake. I knew that at some point I would fumble with the replays folder
  • Heretic
it's completely fair to take my time off the leaderboard. But is it possible that I send another replay to replace?
  • dreadnaut
Too late unfortunately, but I'm glad to hear it was just a mistake! And your team will be too! Do upload your replay on the forum though, it's worth sharing anyway!
  • dreadnaut
Then scoreboard finalised, congratulation to Duplode for the surprise Indy replay, and to Seeker1982 and CTG for the Lancia fight—including mobile uploads on the go Smiley

Hi, folks! I've been a little absent. I'm still quite busy in fact... but I've found some time to start working on a new version of R4K that might be up for next month. I'll post more details soon, but the thing is it will be a whole new focus, adding more possibilities. When it's near first availability, I'll post a discussion in the forum so you guys can make suggestions to finish giving it shape. And of course, I'll still be here posting replays whenever I can!
  • dreadnaut
And the new track is up! Sorry for the delay everyone Smiley Extra apologies to @afullo - I was still tweaking the car bonuses when you sent your first replay.
  • dreadnaut
And hello to @Cas! Nice to hear about the new R4K season, you can count on me Wink
  • dreadnaut
Hope I managed to design a fun track for this month, and that I got the car coefficients right for maximum uncertainty!

  • afullo
Never mind, but my second replay is still computed with a 28% bonus too...
  • dreadnaut
    Fixed!
  • Heretic
I was sad to be without points in the last ... but life that goes on
    Trueno 1:18.70
  • Cas
Oh! I'll soon be posting a replay! And @Dreadnaut... thanks. I've sent you a PM in the forum about some of my ideas for the new R4K, so you can give it a check. Maybe I'm messing up and you can point me in the right direction.
  • Stingray86
Good to hear the mobile upload worked, I thought of doing this in January when I was away. Cool new track! A classic simple track that is fun with some features I have not seen yet in ZAK stunts. Also very relieved to hear it was all just a mistake @Heretic, for our team's sake as well.

  • dreadnaut
Not the cars I had envisioned initially, but still many cars!
    F40 1:08.54
  • dreadnaut
Sorry @Kaos, in your GAR lap, the Lancia leaves the asphalt at the very last corner Sad I'll have to remove the tag, but I'll leave it on the scoreboard of course!

Here goes my first replay for this track!

Hi, I wanna ask who are using Pad? or is Keyboard better for Manual shift?
  • Duplode
I believe very few people use gamepads, the consensus being that all alternative input devices are markedly inferior to keyboards (at least in the absence of Keyboard issues and ghosting ). It would be very cool to be proved wrong about that, though!
  • Stingray86
I agree keyboard is best for playing Stunts especially when considering RH. I have played stunts in a full racing rig complete with wheels, pedals and shifter - felt very strange! But i recommend trying it if you get the chance Smiley

  • Overdrijf
I use keyboard. I even use the ingame key configuration of arrows plus A and Z for shifting rather than say mapping dosbox for steering with WASD. (I had A and Z mapped to W and A on my previous device, but that was because of one of those keyboard issues Duplode mentioned). It works well for me, but I think a lot of options work well ones you're used to them. I don't think a steering wheel adds much for this game, because there are no subtle different levels of steering between "key pressed" and "key not pressed".

  • Cas
Old keyboards are great. I had never experienced this key ghosting until the first time I had a computer that didn't have a DIN5 port for the keyboard. Then I was forced to try the cheap keyboard that came with it. After that, I ended up buying an adaptor and plugged my old keyboard back. Later on, I bought a PS/2 gaming keyboard and that was much better. And today, I have a USB gaming keyboard that's also great. Key ghosting occurs because it takes a lot fewer tracks on a circuit board to have keys grouped (and therefore unable to be used together) than connected individually. An alternative is to have an encoder IC for each group of keys, which is also relatively expensive. I've played Stunts with a joystick, but it was super hard. It was made for the keyboard, clearly.
  • Seeker1982
1st GAR-lap in the Jaaaag IMSA; in opposition to my current GAR-lap with was in the Lancia it should be valid

  • Seeker1982
my previous GAR-Lap was/is invalid, so I tried for days for a new clean one - this is the result
