Hi guys, a friend just told me about how he loved Stunts as a kid and I told him of that time in 2003/2004 when I took part to a Stunts competition. Well, good to know this is still going after 16 years (and that my password is still the same, time to change it). Maybe I'll try again Cheesy and bring him here too!

Than welcome back Guga Smiley - and yes Zak stunts still going strong

  • Marco
Seeker do you accept a 15 or 30 minutes challenge with Delta. Someone share us at the same moment a circuit e we race . When the time ends, we share our result. The fast one wins. What do you think ?
  • Marco
You are too fast here, too much fast. I can match your lap but I need to do everything perfetc . Please record a video with a mobile phone behind you that shows without any doubt your skill . You must not reach 2:21 again obiously but at least show us how you play for real. I'm going to definitively give you the crown e prepare a shirt for the GAR STUNTS CHAMPION OF THE WORLD. I must be 100% sure that you are not cheating.
  • Seeker1982
@Marco I have a dosbox-recorded viedeo of me driving that last GAR-lap of me - and every posted final GAR-lap I've ever done on my HDD, which i could upload to Youtube But If I remember correctly you've already crowned myself GAR champion and your successor in GAR, and you also said this in a few youtube.-videos of yours, so you you saying I must proof myself is kinda bad taste How do the others (Duplode, dreadnaut) see this?
  • Seeker1982
btw: note to myself: I must'n run Dirt Rally 2 and Dosbox/Stunts at the same time due to the high input lag in Stunts this creates Cheesy Noted this as I tried a evaluation run
  • Marco
Hi Seeker , yes you are right but the Delta is my car. I'm not saying that you are cheating but I'm saying that you are too fast (Duplode, Risto, Dread would think the same). I joined this Gar that you was at 2:28 . My first trial without knowing the circuit was only 3 seconds slower and then in only 5 trials I have overtaken your laptime and this was in streaming live on my channel. Then you fast come back with 2:23 and finally 2:21. This doesn't mean anything, maybe you had no enough competition to push much more before but your corner skill is really too fast in this lap. I did 0.60 slower than you gaining much higher top speed on straight so this means that you won on corners and you made them all perfects. Dosbox video is not enough for a skill like yours or like mine because dosbox video is editable. I show my skills live sometimes. Yes I'm interested in other opinions too . Risto, Duplode ?
  • Seeker1982
@Marco that 1st GAR-ap was only 2:28min cause I didn't want to scare other drivers away with some laptime they don't have a chance of beating. If I'd known you compete in GAR my time would have been quite a bit faster in the 1st place Wink To put it short: the 2:28 was my first completed GAR run which was legal, and after you joined the GAR competition I improved it to the 2:23 within about 30mins But as I'm writing this I'm uploading a video on youtube of a small stunts session of a low 2:23 where I recorded the whole process (starting stunts, selecting car+track etc)
  • FinRok
Hi! @Seeker1982 FinRok here! Why dont you show a "live" replay to show the proof cause you're compromised? I hate to argue but that name of the game!
  • Seeker1982
@FinRok atm I'm uploading such a video but i can't record from the outside with a camera or handy because I'm pretty much always alone (Asperger-Syndrome/ASD anyone?) Edit1 - full session 2:23,25 Edit2 - How i record gar-replays via dosbox nowadays 2:21,60):
  • Marco
No need a live , just place a mobile phone in a position that take the keyboard and the screen, it's not hard, if you want I show you how to do, and run at your best. No need of a 2:21 obviously . Check my replay 2.22, you can also improve.
  • dreadnaut
There are no judges on the GAR competition, nothing to win, and the G stand for "Gentlemen". I don't particularly need proof for anything, but I think it's fair if @Marco wants to see a recording. That said, I'd be fine with an in-game recording. Asking for a third-person video is an extra layer of paranoia Grin
  • FinRok
WE need live proof if he's compromised. As a Major i cannot accept!
  • Marco
Hi Dread my friend, here we are talking of the best of all the best. I think It's normal to ask something more. Not in the name of ZakStunts or of the GAR championship rules, but I'm asking in the name of all the Gentlemen Stunts Racers. I trust in him , I think he is the fastest racer i have ever seen in my life. For this reason he must show something more as I do in my channel live. Anyway to do a live maybe is more difficult and extra paranoia yes. It's also true that to run a lap with this speed there s need of several missed trials (so a live could be frustrating) . So I think it could be enough an outside record as i explained ... Place the camere to Take the keyboard/fingers and the screen . No need of other people.

Aug 14

  • dreadnaut
"I trust in him ... For this reason he must show something more" — I don't follow your logic, but do what you prefer Smiley
  • Duplode
Since my name was mentioned: (1) @Marco: "[...] but I'm saying that you are too fast (Duplode, [...] would think the same)" -- Not really, no. (2) @FinRok: I'm not sure what you mean with "cause you're compromised", but I can't think of a meaning of "compromised" that would right now apply to Seeker. (3) My personal feeling about the videos here is that deeming the DOSBox recordings insufficient and demanding more than that is quite comparable to the anti-Meganium mid-00s ghost paranoia, and would merit a similar answer.
  • FinRok
@Duplode my term compromised is a military term meaning that you're under suspect and need for approval of your actions! that menans in this case of scenario live proof of hes actions or race period!
  • Marco
This Duplode fast lap changes all the cards.I show my cards then, my first real intention was to celebrate Seeker. I'm making T-Shirt of the best dos gamer in the world, dos emperor , etc. and i wanted to make one for Seeker as the Fastest Stunts racer because, in my opinion, the fastest gar racer is the fastest stunts racer. Talking with FinRok we have understood that if you want to trick is quite easy with the dosbox video too . So it's good for me that i have asked to Seeker to show me 100% his skills but, my big mistake (and i apologize with him for first and with you for seconds) was to ask that here in the site involving the community. It would be better to talk with him in private mode. I have always liked to show my skills and so I have not thought that asking for a more real video could offend. I repeat that was my mistake. But now there's a problem ... Duplode is going too fast on GAR as he has never done. Or I'm too old and my feeling limit has changed without I noticed that ... or I'm feeling confused
  • Seeker1982
@Duplode congrats to your GAR-lap,I always knew your extremely fast on GAR too if you really tried Smiley Annyways, I don't have anything in my room where I could place my handy on in order to see my Keyboard and display, so I would need someone to hold my handy for half on hour or so.. I don't know if any of my few mates I have would be willing to do this because they are all are in their fifties or even 60s Cheesy @Marco did I understand you correctly you want to talk to on via PM?
  • Marco
I have not gained the best top speed on the banked road and I have entered and exited too slow the halfpipe. The rest almost perfect for my point of view.
  • Marco
Seeker, I don't understand if Duplode has never taken seriously the GAR ... He reached 2:21 in few trials while I needed days. We must wait for him to understand the point. Anyway both of you, gentlemen, have not showed your 2:21 video Smiley)). This is mine
  • Marco
Joking aside,I'm too old to compete against you. After this strong demonstration, I would like to know if Duplode can accept a real challenge against you on GAR. About him i cannot have any doubt, he plays professionally since 20 years, he knows any limit of any car in any corners. He is the Champion of all the Champion of the ZAKSTUNTS site. But GAR is another thing, be the best on ZAK doesn't mean to be the best on GAR. Finrok wins against me on ZAK but he lost on GAR. You are young here and you are demonstrating to be super super fast. I want to see you run for real a 2:21 or a 2:22 low could be good. Do you think this can be done ?
  • Seeker1982
once again, I can only do dosbox-recorded videos of me doing a stunts-session - I don't have anyone willing to film me and I don't have a place for my handy to stand so that you can see my keyboard and computer screen. It was always so - stunts and other games - incl. hardcore-racing-sims like Assetto Corsa or GTR Evolution - I made videos of on my youtube-channel This is me driving a low 2:23 in GAR
  • Seeker1982
I have a new and improved GAR-time for you to sink your teeth in, I hope you will accept it as valid since I recorded the stunts-session Peace all Smiley
  • Marco
I teach you a story, when i joined this community, a very fast guy named CTG told me after only 2 races that he was sure i was a ghost driver of a previous very fast italian racer , Mark Rivers ( to be honest he is still continuing to say that Smiley) .That's not true but I took that as a very big compliment that push me to demonstrate that I was also better than Rivers. If someone says that I could be a cheater it would be a super compliment to me and I would take a chair, my mobile phone, several books or simply a piece of scotch to attach the mobile to the chair and I would show my fingers in action in 5 minutes ... I would never call someone to record me playing stunts. 2:23 is a very nice lap but 2:21 is another thing and you have not recorded your 2:21 . Duplode said that a dosbox recording video is enough , ok I could also agree with him but by the moment is not present your 2:21. I'm not saying that you are a cheater and to be honest I still don't think that you are but i expected a different reaction. Here we are not talking about the 10th place of the scoreboard, here we are talking of the fastest stunts racer of the world, because this means to win GAR races. It's a serious thing Smiley).
  • Seeker1982
Not a 2:21 Wink I did this while trying to record a complete stunts-session; I'm unsure about when I'll upload the stunts-replay-file:
  • Marco
Anyway yesterday Duplode has done an incredible GAR demonstration reaching 2:21 in a while that i didn't expect by him considering his previous GAR demonstrations. I though he was fast but not so fast. So That let me think that he was not focused in the previous GAR races. Then If he will decide to do not compete on GAR against you (because he doesn't like or he has no time), i will focus on your skills otherwise you will have a much bigger problem than find the scotch to attach the mobile to the chair. Yesterday He did a couple of 2:21 in some minutes ... wow.
  • Marco
I have watched that. I love that you shared the entire session with the mistaken laps. I have seen that you have also run several other 2:21. He has surely a super Q.I. (Very intelligent man), more than normal, I know that Smiley FinRok , Duplode , we know what does it means to drive so fast, Is he the fastest , we all agree ? Duplode do you still want to compete on GAR with him ? Anyway I want to see his fingers on the keyboard, not only because he could be a cheater but first of all because he could be amazing Smiley . Frank, find the scotch and attach the mobile to the chair ... then record. No need a live gaming session, you can record the best lap when you want. Let's wait for Duplode answer

Aug 15

  • Duplode
[part 1 of 3] @Seeker1982 Thanks Smiley On the topic of laptimes, I'd say that 2:22.xx, whilile challenging, is something I got to do semi-regularly once I had learned the track well enough. 2:21.xx, on the other hand, is very hard indeed. You can see the break clearly by looking at the timestamps of my laps from my Thursday-to-Friday late night session.
  • Duplode
[part 2 of 3] @Marco On how seriously I take GAR, it's quite simple, really. Both you and Sekeer are overall stronger GAR racers than I am, and specially with Seeker I need to put in a lot of effort to have any hopes of keeping up. (By the way, you said I did "a couple of 2:21 in some minutes", but, as the timestamps show, it actually took me several hours.) That being so, it's not every month that I have the time or the mood for pushing hard enough. IIRC, the closest I got to defeating Seeker on ZakStunts GAR since his domination began was Z206, in which I drove, and even posted, a 2:21.45 with Indy a few minutes before the deadline, only to find out I went a few pixels off the track in a fast chicane.
  • Duplode
[part 3 of 3] In any case, @Marco, here is a 2:22.00 video for your enjoyment. It is a pretty good lap until around 1:48, when a short jump at the bridge ramp threw me off my rhythm. (Oh, and sorry, but, like Seeker, there's no way I'm doing the camera thing...)
  • Seeker1982
On the issue of filming the keyboard via camera etc.: I would need to order a Smartphone/Handy-Tripod/Stand just for the issue which I don't really have the money for since I'm officially incapable of doing "normal" work due to my disability and illness Today I went looking for such a tripod thingy at my usual market for such things (Saturn in the goethe-gallery of my home city) only has got stands which are way to short for my needs. And then there is the issue of privacy. I'm so good at GAR because for many years all i did in stunts was comparing the cars in hotlaps, and I have a certain driving/keyboard technique, and on top of it I was active in sim-racing Please @Marco , be reasonable

Aug 16

  • Marco
Seeker , Frank i have spoken with you several times in the past .... I consider you a normal man or better, more than normal because you are more intelligent than me. If what I'm doing rightnow is causing you problems, please tell me because GAR is not so important to let someone suffer. In Italy there are several people suffering strange conditions that are not recognized by our nation, probably I'm one of them as several old gamers . I always say that we gamers have all some problems ... maybe they are not real problems for the life but are problems for this kind of society. If i'm not causing problems , I like to take seriously these games because increase the value ... but obviously we are joking more than be serious. So if you have a privacy problem, that's ok , i will not ask anymore , could be reasonable ?. I continued this thread only because are 2 days that you speak about cameramen and tripod and it's clear that you don't need to pay Spielberg or to buy a tripod to place a mobile somewhere . GAR is not for rich , I'm not rich too. Duplode i don't need your videos , I know who you are . So you think to be slower than Frank ? It's ok.
  • afullo
In organizing university exams at distance due to the pandemic, we put in place less control measures than the ones Marco is proposing here for GAR...
  • Seeker1982
well, I'm a so called 2e (twice exceptional) - in certain areas I'm highly gifted but in a few others I'm handicapped. And yes this whole issue caused me sleepless night resp stressed me out, although the temperatures arn't exactly helping. I just want to be cleared from the allegation that I would be a cheater. In Test Drive Unlimited 1 I've been accused of the same thing by some eastern guys (russia or Poland etc), which was one of the reasons I created the Super-Guide for TDU1, which took me ~10years(!) to complete, and now is available on https://turboduck.net. I have uploaded the whole session of me racing GAR on Youtube, which fulfilled your GAR v3 rules. If that's not enough to give me some trophy shirt I'm ok with that AS long as I'm cleared of cheating. ATM and until the next track starts I just can't film myself, but the 25€ for a tripod-stand for handys I'm willing to invest, since I may have other uses for the tripod than just this one issue (e.g. making videos for youtube). The one with the privacy-concerns is - for the most part - my mother So - in simple terms and short: I want to be cleared of the cheating accusation and I'm willing to film me but can't do that earlier than ~2weeks, And I want to upload my current GAR-Lap - the one that is below a driving 2:21 - to this site btw: Track summary will be quite interesting Cheesy
  • Marco
To stay at the top of the ladder, to win a race or to win a championship is very hard. Several people spend a lot of time for the ZAK competition, so i respect this competition and i consider it a friendly but also very competitive championship. I respect the GAR too because It took me several time and hours to define the GAR rules. Do you run the GAR races Afullo ? i'm not proposing any changes to the community . Me and Finrok have simply requested to the fastest one to show a more consistent proof thinking that was easy and funny. At this point, according with Frank answers, it's clear to all that was not funny but we could not know that before. I'm sure that Frank is not a cheater but, at this point, I'm sure that he will do everything to clear the position also if i tell him to stop.
  • Duplode
@Seeker1982 As far as I'm aware of, you are not being accused of or investigated for cheating by the ZakStunts management. That being so, if I were you, I would simply post your improved GAR laps as normal.
  • afullo
I play GAR only seldom, but what I meant is that if a player wants to cheat, and I am quite sure it is not Seeker's case, there would be plenty of ways to do it anyway. This is why it is not of real use to ask for a recording which can be (un)properly edited by having the right means, and why we changed the structure of the exams rather than asking for a strict video surveillance...
  • Marco
Well Afullo, to use replay handling is much easier than to edit a dosbox video record so for that reason we asked to record the gaming session as gentleman agreement (also because it's easy to do). Fastest Stunts racer doesn't come out every day and i think that, if tomorrow, someone will overtake Seeker, it would be the same. Anyway, I understand your points and, first of all, it was not my intention to create stress to Frank . I did the mistake to think with my brain and, in my case, I would be proud to be indicated as fast as a potential "cheater" (as i was proud to be called Ghost by CTG, it's an example that's similar) . I have never stopped to consider Frank the fastest Stunts Racer in the World as I have always considered and celebrated him in my channels. Moreover, according to our rules, my request was not "legal" . Seeker showed is 2:20 video as gentleman agreement, it is good for me too as for the community. So i retire the strong proof request.
  • Marco
The only moment in which i was confused about the fastest one is when I have seen Duplode reach 2:21 in some hours. But Duplode says that he is slower than Seeker. Dup is a top professional, so he knows what he says and that's good for me.

  • Seeker1982
I'm back to improving my GAR-lap; I just did a 40min session which i have fully dosxbox-recorded and reached a 2:20,05 so I think even a high 2:19,x is possible - sadly it was invalid due to a small unintentional cut in a corner ATM I'm uploading the session to youtube if anyone is interested Wink

Hi Girls and Guys, I'm new here, but not so new to Stunts... First played in 1991 and it was always my Nr.1 PC game. Many years passed since, without playing Stunts (or any other games) but now it is a great fun to play again, and to see such a great community around this magical game. I hope we'll have a lot of fun! Smiley

  • Duplode
    Hello and welcome, @Straycat! Smiley
  • Marco
Hi Straycat and welcome, have you red my comment on youtube ?
  • Marco
Finrok, I think that Seeker is not a Cheater and that his fingers are able to reach these incredible results for real. He has surely a lot of time to play but his determination is clearly not common. Seeker if you will find an easy way to show us you play without touching too much your privacy it would be great. Not because of cheating but because that's amazing. Anyway don't buy a tripod for that, it's not necessary (also because you will need not only the tripod but also the adapter to connect the mobile to the tripod ... other 5 or 10 euros if I'm not wrong). Finrok my friend ?
  • FinRok
Im ok with that as i never or race anymore seriously on GAR (Cause i fail too much Smiley . Seeker: Those are so perfect runs that with even using replay handling is hard to archieve! and Seeker? Honest and Straight answer have you ever used Dosbox Daum's savestates to replay a scene or do you know that you can save game with / Alt-f5 / Alt-f9 to save and continue race between pause screen on gar? and edit with virtual dub or similar to only show the perfect runs.. or use video edit? Marco my setup was old cd tower and digital camera 2003 on it when i played real pc (Nascar ect) and now i can use plastic/stand cover (or car phone stand) for my smart phone with that you can make the phone adjusted to back of you in shelf or tower or speaker. I also never had or used tripod or small tripod with 3-legs.. Showing live as you play is unique and fun way to show for real gaming session like I or Marco did in he's channel like Marco said "Not because of cheating but because that's amazing" Dont have to show your face or anything other than your monitor.
  • Straycat
@Marco hi to you, sorry have not seen that. Wheree could I see it?
  • Marco
Nothing Straycat, yesterday i suggested to a guy to join this community, I thought that you were him.
  • Seeker1982
I have not used DAUM SVG savestates neither in racing games nor elsewhere. I only used daum SVG because it's video recording function properly works in Windows 10x64 - i don't remember exactly when, but somewhen in 2018 or 2019 I used to have recording problems. Again I'm a 2e with Asperger-Snydrome, and like autists do tend to always say the truth Cheesy
  • FinRok
Nothing Seeker i wish you all best in GAR races. I have heard that and i know one friend.. I have met one friend with some kind of Asperger before, he says all the things what pops-up in he's mind, straight thoughts sometimes also in wrong places which can cause situations with people. And get's upset easily. Smiley
  • Overdrijf
"and like autists do tend to always say the truth :cheesy:" No we don't, we lie our asses off continuously.
  • Marco
I think that almost all here we have something not common. In some countries is recognized while in other you must act as a "normal" ... But what does it mean "normal" ... nothing. I'm surely not normal, I have a family, a son, sometimes I don't sleep because I think that I must die and i cannot accept that point. Sometimes i wake up and i feel to be in a nightmare because the truth is that we must die for real and I cannot accept that. I want to live and play stunts forever... Who is normal ?

@Marco: I completely agree with your post. Life is complicated and as I can see the majority of us here are around 40 years age. Every "normal" person (whatever "normal" means in our society... or btw. does it mean anything at all?) need something helping to escape from everyday reality. Some are doing arts, some have sports, some are gambling, some are taking drugs, some becomes alcoholic, and some people play Stunts. I think, as long as it hurts nobody else, and the family accepts that we need some time on our own, it can be considered normal. I'm not ashamed of it, my family can accept and encourage it, it costs no significant money, I can play the game on the sofa with my laptop with my wife sitting next to me and working on her computer or watching TV. I think playing Stunts is a very gentle way to relax and clean your head, as long as the amount of time spent with it doesn't exceed healthy limits. I am here for fun. I'm not crying if I can't be the winner, no matter what ranking I get. The point is FUN.
  • Seeker1982
Next month when I have the money I'll order this handy tripod stand - doesn't cost a fortune and i may have use for it besides stunts; my handy/smartphone is a Samsung Galaxy J5 2017 which SHOULD be compatible with the tripod: https://www.amazon.de/Hitchy-Aluminium-Leichtbau-Bluetooth-Fernbedienung-Tragetasche-GoPro-Halterung/dp/B07F6ZQ5P4?ref=Oct_s9_apbd_orecs_hd_bw_bN4tPL&pf_rd_r=GDG0W4B1JHJVMD0D6143&pf_rd_p=7c2a861a-f01b-5800-b208-39ab3e57fa05&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-10&pf_rd_t=BROWSE&pf_rd_i=341022031&th=1

I have a Nokia C2-01, and a Nokia 3310, and I love them Especially the 3310, because it's the hardest thing in the universe. It can even destroy galaxies
  • GTAManRCR
@Seeker1982 the only positive point of DOSBox SVN-Daum is, that its video recorder works perfectly on Windows 10 x64, but it requires a PC much stronger, than vanilla DOSBox do, so on older PCs, games will lag, and stutter with the SVN-Daum version
  • Seeker1982
My PC is quite capable, I can even record Screamer2 even though the controls are somewhat lagging when recording in realtime. Somewhen in 2018 or 2019 I tried to change to the standard/official/clean Dosbox SVNs - but the only clean SVN readily COMPILED for Windows is compiled without the screenshot/video recording function, which I kinda do rely on since I've made Youtube videos btw has anyone successfully dosbox-sessions via Nvidia Experience? My GPU is an Nvidia Geforce 1060 6Gb with which I recorded modern Win6.x-games via Nvidia Experience
  • GTAManRCR
"I can even record Screamer2 even though the controls are somewhat lagging" "I tried to change to the standard/official/clean Dosbox SVNs - but the only clean SVN readily COMPILED for Windows is compiled without the screenshot/video recording function" why dont'you use DOSBox-ECE? That's the build I use, and works perfectly. You also can capture videos, and screenshots. Sound emulation is nicer, games are running in 60 FPS, and of course, no input lag
  • Seeker1982
As I wrote I tried to change for a CLEAN SVN (Non-enhanced) I suppose you mean this build: https://dosboxece.yesterplay.net/ But if it really fully works on Win10x64 and DOESN'T support savestates like Daums I'm willing to give it a try - fist due to the GAR-Discussion but also since DAUM's build is considered obsolete and hasn't been updated in years
  • GTAManRCR
Daum has loads of garbage features, which slows down games, but why would you use a version, which doesn't support savestates?
  • Seeker1982
Havn't you seen the discussion about me being accused to cheat in GAR via DosBox? I have been cleared, but some stronger evidence than a dosbox video and me being an Asperger-autist and 2e (twice excetional) would be nice
  • GTAManRCR
Alright, I understand. DOSBox-ECE doesn't support savestates, and games are smoother, so give it a spin
  • Straycat
Hey guys, what's the reason that most of you prefer the Lancia over the Audi Quattro on ZCT229? Is it just the 2% higher bonus, or any other? Thanks.
  • GTAManRCR
Seeker, you should know, that Marco stated, that you aren't cheater
  • GTAManRCR
@Straycat maybe for its better handling, and faster speed
  • Seeker1982
@GTAman15 yes, and that's why I said I'm cleared Smiley
  • Straycat
@GTAman15 thanks. However I feel the opposite.
  • Duplode
@Straycat They are quite similar cars. The Audi Quattro is a little bit faster, but not enough to offset a 2% bonus difference.

  • KyLiE
Hey everyone! This is my first ZakStunts replay!
    Jaguar 2:08.00 A
  • Seeker1982
new Dosbox-Enhanced Community Edition is up and running fine incl. fullscreen-scaling to my 16:10 monitor Smiley What I don't know for sure if the capturing-commands are the same as they were in DAUMs SVN. And I don't get that the ECE SVN is only mentioned in a footnote in the Dosbox SVN-Wiki And welcome Kylie
  • GTAManRCR
The capturing-commands are default DOSBox commands. My question is, do you have more FPS? Are games more stable?
  • Seeker1982
My testing app for stability and performance would be Screamer2 if I would get it running.. It always asks for its CD dispite an iso-image of it's CD is mounted in win10 AND dosbox as e: (in Dosbox d: is my native optical drive, while e: is the dosbox-mounting-point for the virtual diskdrive created by Win10 for the Iso) As far as I can remember the iso image of screamer2 used to work on DAUMs Dosbox I could test Stunts performance and I might be imagine it but i think it runs smoother Smiley However the real test is Screamer2 during recording via dosbox
  • Seeker1982
when i change the dosbox.conf so that the virtual diskdrive is the first mounted drive in dosbox screamer2 recognizes it's mounted CD as valid - now to see how fast screamer runs when I record it via dosbox
  • Seeker1982
When recording screamer2 I have slight audio stutter but the input lag I experienced in 10-2017 is gone - however my computer being faster than in 2017 might also play a role Cheesy Edit: I crosschecked by recording Screamer2 in SuperVGA via DAUMs Dosbox, and the result is I have a little bit more soundstutter, but no noticeable input lag either (same settings of course)
  • Seeker1982
I'll stick with the DOSbox SVN ECE since it has working capture functions and a much more up to date SVN build than DAUMs dead build And maybe I'll be able to install Win98SE into it like I already did it with Win3.11 Cheesy
  • GTAManRCR
Great choice. I said, that it's better than Daum
  • Seeker1982
First run in the new DOSbox ECE-build
  • Stingray86
Hello and welcome KyLie! Good to see a fellow Aussie here Smiley

  • GTAManRCR
Do you convert your DOSBox videos, Seeker?
  • Seeker1982
no, its Dosbox video-output straight unedited&unprocessed uploaded to youtube
  • GTAManRCR
I thought, DOSBox video is HQ
  • Duplode
@GTAMan15 YouTube processing tends to be lossy. At a minimum, a Stunts video straight from DOSBox will typically be 320x200, which doesn't match the 240p resolution YouTube will settle for.

Quiet replays visible, since I'm here!
  • Duplode
As for me, I'm still working on Z230. The basic shape is mostly settled, so it shouldn't take too long. There should be a track to race on before the night ends...
  • KyLiE
@Seeker1982 and @Stingray86, thanks for the welcome! This competition is so much fun! @Cas, thank you for that, I look forward to posting some replays.
  • Duplode
Results confirmed -- congratulations FinRok! Note that no one gained LTB points in this race: both FinRok and CTG stopped just short of the 240 hours threshold, and will start the next round with a lot of carryover hours.
  • Duplode
And the new track is up! It's dawn now, and after lots and lots of bulldozing little remains of the basic shape I mentioned early in the night. Hope you'll enjoy it!

  • Straycat
Hi all. I've tried the new track 230 and it looks like my PC can't handle the spirals. I've recorded what happens: Looks like a bug. I've restarted DosBox twice, no change. Did anybody else experience this?
  • dreadnaut
    Indy, for fun
    Indy 1:25.72 A
  • dreadnaut
@Straycat that is by, er..., design Smiley Instead of following the first spiral down, turn left and climb on the second. In your video, at 0:07.
  • Straycat
@deadnut ... :O :O :O I think this is some other interpretation of the game, than what I got used to. Maybe for the next season, we could fly on Aladdin's magic carpet or on a which's sweeper? Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Don't misunderstand me, but when I try to commit myself to play according to GAR policy, tracks designed with wormholes or teleports are not my taste. Apologies for everyone in this community, but I will skip this track of the competition.
  • GTAManRCR
Duplode invented a new Stunts element, guys
  • Duplode
@Straycat I see where you are coming from, but as the track designer I humbly ask you to give it a second chance Smiley That part of the track is meant to be a walled bridge chicane, something that makes sense in GAR even though we have to fight the game a bit to make it work. (By the way, the GAR line there goes from the bridge chicane to the drop on the banked corner below, and then to the final right turn on the water; flying over grass upon leaving the bridge would be a GAR violation.)
  • Overdrijf
If it's not clear what the element is supposed to be, look at one of our replays. It's quite cool. Plus it's probably not the most GAR headache inducing element on this track I recon. The split road section, the cork l/r on the hill, the bridge jump into slalom and in a fast enough car the double jump are all very nice challenges. The trick with this new fantasy element from the mind of Duplode is mostly that you can't properly see where it goes until you're way too close for comfort.
  • Overdrijf
Oh, by the way, downloading replays is done by going to "all results" next to "download track", in case you didn't know that yet.
  • Seeker1982
great track Duplode, although i still have to see if its GARable Cheesy
    Audi 1:11.20
  • Seeker1982
first GAR-lap I deem legal Smiley the double vertical corkscrew thingy is driven in the same style as in the RH/Main-competition
    Audi 1:23.32
  • Straycat
@Duplode: Please don't take me wrong, your work is highly appreciated, it just seems odd to me to drive through a concrete wall without having health issues! Wink To turn serious, I see this as a rather philosophic question, if we consider Stunts as a GAME where anything is possible, or we handle it e-sport where rules must be obeyed. Certainly this has to be judged by the community - if not already concluded.
  • Duplode
@Straycat Okay, but, if it helps, note there isn't a real wall in the middle of the bridge chicane. It is just a graphical glitch, because the game can't draw just half of the cork l/r (it is kinda like how the game draws grass that doesn't actually exist if you put a large corner on water). I certainly agree that having to go through a real, physical wall in a GAR race would be going too far.
  • Duplode
On the philosophical point, I like to think of GAR and non-GAR racing as different sports, or different modalities like in artistic gymnastics. As for track designers doing wacky things in GAR tracks, we generally try to find an interpretation of staying on the track that follows the spirit of the rules while making it possible to complete a legal lap.
  • Straycat
@Duplode, okay, if the majority thinks this is acceptable, then I keep on playing along.

  • dreadnaut
"Illusion tracks" are a rare but known occurrence on ZakStunts, and they are often a source of confusion for GAR racers Smiley This one is a more extreme example, but we usually accept them as long as we can agree on a valid GAR route. See also: http://wiki.stunts.hu/Illusion_track
  • Zak McKracken

Maybe it is a rhetorical question, but, did you remember to check the proper box?
  • Duplode
@Seeker1982 Your replay (1:20.64 corrected time) shows up in the All Results page, but without the GAR flag. Perhaps you left the checkbox unmarked, as afullo suggests. In any case, I'll add the GAR flag to it.

  • Reporting on ZCT229

Exciting times at ZakStunts! Leo's track for August, hidden in dense forest, has seen the highest participation for this year, and an intense battle for the lead. Actually, two battles!

After the initial uncertainty—is it a Carrera track? IMSA maybe?—the Lancia Delta took the lead on the scoreboard, with Heretic, Seeker1982, then CTG and Marco vying for the top step of the podium. But soon after the end of the public days, out of nowhere, FinRok appeared and put a full stop to this part of the race, leaving Marco 4 seconds behind. His result would remain unchallenged for the rest of the race, giving him the victory and 230h of leading time.

However by the time FinRok posted his result, the battle (and the drama!) had already moved to the GAR competition, which puts strict limits on the driving style, and only accepts laps driven without interruption. The competition between Seeker1982 (current GAR champion) and Marco (proud Lancia expert) heated up with concerns about cheating. Duplode jumped in with a few strong laps, and Seeker sealed his result shaving off another two seconds from his time. All this back and forth brought along a bunch of racers on the GAR scoreboard! Unbelievable effort from everyone: NoRH driving requires skill, effort, and a lot of patience.

As mentioned above, the race closed with FinRok in the lead. Behind him Duplode, and Marco. Alan Rotoi picked up the sixth place with a strong result, followed by Stringray86 and Heretic (two thirds of Traction Faction), Overdrjif, and the rest of Rolling Stunts, who are still lagging behind Cork's Crew on the teams scoreboard.

ZCT229 also sees two new entries on the tarmac: we welcome KyLiE from down under, and Straycat from Hungary! ? Extra surprise, Zak himself reappeared after two years away from the races, enticed by Marco's live streaming sessions. Hi Zak, we missed you! ?

Yes, all this in only four weeks. Where are we then, with August coming to its end in a couple of days? There are four races left in the season, and Duplode holds the lead several points ahead of Seeker1982... but not that many! Seeker has collected a good number of LTB points, which can balance his weaker results. And because the three lowest scores of the season are ignored in the final sum, these LTB points could be really important to decide the championship.
