  What a start!

  The cars are fast, the tracks are busy, and Season 2019 is off with bang! We are already two-third through the second race, and I have quite a few pieces of news for this column!

  New rules and cars

  First of all, the rules for this season have a small change around the car bonus coefficients. After a deep forum discussion, we decided to bring the car bonuses closer together, and reduce the speed at which they change. It's an experiment to see if we can make finding the right car more uncertain and fun. And from this first two races, it seems to be working!

  The yearly car rotation brings to the track the Ferrari F40, the Ford Ranger (all the rage on ZCT211), and a bunch of Overdrijf's productions: the SuperKart, and the Audi Quattro and BMW M3 from the recently released DTM pack.

  New and old faces

  We have new cars, but also a small pack of recent additions to the scoreboard: Heretic, who joined us at the end of last year, fx_undertaker from Canada, sd4000 from Germany, and Stan 286XT, who plays on original hardware. Hey, there's enough people for a new team there!

  We also saw Marco very high up on the scoreboard! He seems to have conceded the GAR throne, but he's already working hard for the championship. Also Usrin is whizzing around the current track, which means that Looping Warriors has a full roster again. The team championship is going to be hot this year :-)

  Got grip?

  Stick to the road in Cas' OWOOT event, Race 4 Kicks, which is back for the third season. The first track is just out! And trust me, it's a good one, with evil corks and tricky jumps. So go and sign up there as well: the scoreboard is open to both RH and NoRH laps, and Cas is guaranteed to bring you interesting tracks.

  Around the forum

  Come join us for one of our rare Le Stunts events, where we meet on the website chat and take part in endurance races 12 minutes long. It makes for tough, adrenaline-filled driving! We are currently planning the date (and time) for the next one, are you in?

  If you feel like racing now, instead, you could take our Default Challenge, a five-lap test on the DEFAULT track that comes with Stunts. Fast racing against the clock, but mainly yourself—nerves of steel required.

  If instead you are looking forward to a relaxing weekend, check the strange Car Cards project that started in the last days. Open your favourite graphics software and send us your experiments!

  Guys, anyone has a good idea on how I can drive using my left hand for the arrow keys? Thing is I've got my right hand middle finger hurt and it's precisely the one that's receive the most stress when driving. I wouldn't want to drive automatic, if there's any option.

  In DosBox, Ctrl-F1 gives you access to a keyboard remapping screen. With that you could switch the game to WASD controls on the left maybe?

  Ah! Thank you! I kind of knew that one but it seems I had always been using it wrong so it didn't work. After reading the manual, I've got it working I just mapped the space-bar to the keypad "+", so now I can raise the gear with the plus and lower it with Enter.

  And i did ... well to be honest , I m one of the few Eporediesi that never thrown oranges but my son was involved and, anyway , the carnival days here are something incredible. Our Carnival is very strong, infact yesterday evening i was destroied and i relaxed on Stunts keeping the first position again against Seeker the best Gar Racer in the World. With some more experience, I think he can become one of the best in the main championship too. Seeker you would have to watch all the previous races of this site to discover any kind of secrets (I never did that, no time)

  Hi Seeker, you are very close ... I would like to have a fast GAR challenge with you and with the Lancia Delta. These could be the rules: One of us creates a Track, then send it to the opponent for a little edit correction as a turn or something else and send it back in 15 minutes. This prevent the circuit maker to trick and use an old circuit where he had already set some records. Then we start and in only 30 minutes we must send each other our laptime record with GAR RULES. We can manage it on my facebook page Marco Plays Dos Games if you want.

  Sorry Marco not enough time or nerves for that - I have enough "work" at hand beating your RH-time. Besides I can't even rembember the last time I made a new track in Stunts. Also, I'm writing a english translation of my Super-Guide for TDU1 (Test drive unlimited; a SimCarde-Racing-Game)

  @Marco I hope your alright, as said I'm sorry but atm I have quite a lot to do, and I to race to my best abilities in my first race as non-newbie and team-member. Perhaps we can do a similar event like you proposed in the first days of the next zak competition race, but in the last days of this - for me special - event doesn't work. And btw: I don't consider racing as wasting my life, you have no idea how long and intense I was into Test Drive Unlimited 1 - especial during the summer of 2008, where I even injured my hands/fingers due to the hours of Steering Wheel clamping etc

Well Biker and Duplode could be much faster than me racing seriously and with the same car. Seeker 1 second gap, it's enough to do not be too much sad,you must know that I lost my possible first winning race by 0.00.05 to Akoos Poo ) .

  "Real" is the real score, sum of the best 9 races. On the other hand, "Sum" considers all 12, but the three worst results are meant not to count.

  Scoreboard amended Stan's replay had a 2'42" penalty, which was only partially applied. I suppose the form is not made to accept for minutes of penalty, so that was not clear. I have updated his result. Motig's replay also suffers from a high penalty, but it was entered correctly, thanks!

  Can the GAR specialists see my replay and tell if a maneuver I've made is valid? After a jump between bridges (on 1:10), comes a very tight curve, and I "entered" the wall but kept two wheels on the track ... I do not know if this is valid

  @Heretic and @Dread, my friends, well yesterday I did a live video on my FB page to present this new circuit. I did some GAR trials and then i showed how to upload the replay on this site. As soon as I will return on the track I will put you behind my tail !!! )) Joking aside, where is Seeker ? I think he can run 10 seconds better than us , he is a machine on GAR.

  @FinRok aka Risto ... you were retired !!! What are you doing here again You have already won a championship, go away !!! ))) For My point of view, Risto is one of the very incredible faster and visionary racer in the world. After very few races, He was able to compete at the same level with Dup . He didn't receive the deserved celebration in 2017 in my opinion for the Championship. I received much more when I won my first race as the 20th winner ever in the Zak site history. )) What a return, 10 seconds faster just as an aperitive.

  I said 10 seconds, he did 7 seconds just to start )) I think I can run 3 , 4 seconds slower than him. My fingers are beginning to show problems. Sometime I think if this has some sense. I retired because of this reason, and after resolved, I returned to do the same. The problem start from the 4th finger of the right hand due to too much repetitive pressure on right turns.

  Main problem is that my great friend Risto entered the main Championship because he doesn't want that I overtake him in the ladder of the victories. He would never permit that. )) So bad ... I cannot keep fight against him , I would destroy my arms both. He has a much stronger body

  Yes, competition ramped up really fast on this track You can look at the public replays, but driving at the same level is not easy. Maybe CTG, FinRok, and Seeker could share some of their experience

  One thing you can notice from CTG's replay is that on grass, the Porsche slides faster than it rides straight, and it's not too difficult to recover from a sliding turn by reversing the steering.

  I can do whatever I try - the C4 always slides after mid-air turning and won't stop sliding despite reversing the steering etc - I loose a LOT of time due to this

  Save one replay that's 8 minutes long. The track is designed with the finish on a side track, so you can keep running for multiple laps.

  @Marco: Post timestamps -- more specifically, the difference between the time of the "Go!" message in the chat room and the time of your forum post with the replay. That means you have not only to drive, but also save and post the replay within the 12 minutes, so plan accordingly.

  It is a good idea disable the new replies warning in the options of your forum profile (Profile >> Modify Profile >> Look and Layout >> Turn on "Don't warn on new replies made while posting"), so that you don't risk having to resubmit the post.

  Oh, on my first computer, I had a mechanical BTC keyboard, because that was the only thing available. They were solid like a rock. For many years, I kept using that one not minding it looked old, until it stopped working well. Then I had an A4Tech gaming keyboard because after years of using the BTC, I couldn't stand the cheap ones, even though I'm not really a gamer. Now I have a Redragon RGB and I'm very happy with it

  that bordlerine illegal GAR-lap comment referred to my previous gar-replay which imo resulted in a driven 1:49,15 Btw: I just tested out how fast I can go with GAR-rules except for one exception: allowed Replay-Handling: a driven 1:47,30 in the Carrera 4 resulted, so there's still room for improvement. I strife for a fully GAR-legal driven 1:48,x in the Carrera4

  @Duplode - Next race in R4K will be with the Speedgate, so I went to SCR to download the car (rev3) and to my surprise, it didn't work. Then I realised that the .RES file is called "CARGATE2" and the "2" makes it fail because the four-character ID must be the same for all files. I fixed it in my copy. You may want to have that checked. @Everybody - the zip file with the working file names will be in R4K for download when the race starts
